Yes. STEM decks often feature equations. These cannot be rendered in GoCard

There are usually 2 ways of rendering LaTeX in the terminal: SymPy's way which explores the terminal's ability to approximate equations with native symbols, or rendering the card into an image which then the terminal would render.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Using Anki. The main reason against it is that GoCard is much nicer in the UI. Anki's feature completion comes at the cost of much higher complexity of their product.
