I would like to mention that we plan to start using ruff and pre-commit for formatting the ESMValTool code and this will affect how everyone works who creates a pull request to ESMValTool. See ESMValGroup/ESMValTool#2161 for previous discussion and ESMValGroup/ESMValTool#3893 for more information on the planned changes.

Points raised:

• @rswamina raises that the @ESMValGroup/userengagementteam proposes to use some of the monthly meetings as drop-ins for community members to ask questions or ask for assistance. Frequency? How to advertise? If not enough people join for questions can proceed with the monthly meeting as "usual".
• @katjaweigel will there be ESMValTool participation at the global WCRP km-scale hackathon (https://www.wcrp-esmo.org/activities/wcrp-global-km-scale-hackathon-2025)?
• @bouweandela ruff: support in codacy thanks to @valeriupredoi. This means retiring prospector, and other related tools. Move to ruff for linting and formatting ion the Core. Worked on formatting with ruff in the Tool. PR(Replace flake8, yapf, and isort with ruff ESMValTool#3893) is ready but wanted to do it after release. Instructions for how to do it in the PR. Working on getting it working in R. Tag @bouweandela or @schlunma if you need help regarding this.
• Talking about REF diagnostics and recipes. Hackathon in Exeter next week. Requiring a few more reviews on several PRs
  • Ready for review: Add recipe and diagnostic for ZEC (Zero Emissions Commitment) ESMValTool#3897, Regional historical changes for REF ESMValTool#3926
  • @rswamina finishing off provenance, science review should be easy since based on publication (Evaluate key climate variables at Global warming levels ESMValTool#3927).
  • @jlenh figuring out how to download and link auxiliary files from Zenodo, PR won't be ready before at least early next week.
  • @schlunma TCRE diagnostic merged, did some reviews for REF PRs (e.g. Add Cloud Radiative Effects recipe for REF ESMValTool#3903, Create scatterplots for the REF ESMValTool#3923).
  • several more PRs, check the REF tag.
