Support both front and back cameras when adding a photo mark (eID selfie) #1093

Description

@plansombl

Description

As a user, I should be able to choose between the front (selfie) camera and the back camera when adding a photo mark to my eID. Currently only one camera is accessible, which prevents users from taking a selfie using the front-facing camera — the most natural choice for this use case.

User report from Alex Tourski:

"I wanted to add a selfie to eID just to find that I cannot use the frontal camera. I need both cameras as a user."

Reference

  • Reported via WhatsApp by Alex Tourski on 22 July 2026.

Acceptance Criteria

  • The camera picker allows the user to switch between front and back cameras when capturing a photo mark.
  • The front (selfie) camera is the default selection on mobile devices.
  • The back camera remains selectable as an alternative.
  • The feature works correctly on both iOS and Android (and desktop where applicable).
  • The selected camera preference is respected throughout the capture flow.

Desired Output (may vary)

A camera selection UI (e.g. a toggle/flip button) within the photo mark capture screen, allowing seamless switching between front and back cameras before or during capture.
