Tracker connects to internet despite check for upgrades being disabled

Hello,
using Tracker 6.3.1 on Windows 10.
I disabled "check for upgrades" in the preferences, yet on startup it connects to github (185.199.111.153) and (I assume) physlets.org (165.227.222.255).

While it does not check for upgrades it still reports its version and OS to the physlets server for counting purposes. The call to GitHub occurs when it checks to see if it is connected to the Internet. No other information is collected.
