- Severity: Low
Environment
- OS: Linux
- WM: Niri
- Compositor: Wayland
- Software version: 2.39.0
Description
The trash icon in the editor continues to offer the 'Move To Trash' action when viewing a file that is already in Trash. This makes the action confusing because the file has already been moved to Trash and cannot be moved there again.
Steps to reproduce
- Move a file to Trash.
- Go to Trash.
- Click on the trashed file to open it in the editor.
- Press the trash icon in the top-right corner.
- Observe the confirmation prompt.
Expected Behaviour
The trash icon should recognise that the file is already in Trash and provide an appropriate action, such as permanently deleting the file after confirmation.
Actual Behaviour
The trash icon continues to perform the 'Move To Trash' action and displays a confirmation prompt asking whether the file should be moved to Trash, despite the file already being in Trash.
Additional Notes
The trash icon is also available when editing files that are not in Trash, where 'Move To Trash' is the appropriate action. The action should therefore change based on whether the current file is already in Trash.
