Proroot is gaining popularity among Termux users due to its superior performance compared to standard PRoot. However, the current distribution method (binaries only) makes it difficult for beginners to install and prevents official packaging.
I would like to create an official package for Termux, but the Termux contributing guidelines strictly prohibit closed-source packages. The team might consider an exception if the project were at least "Source Available" (even under a proprietary license that forbids modification/redistribution).
Would you be open to publishing the source code on GitHub?
You can keep the proprietary license (no one would be allowed to modify or resell it).
This would simply allow the community and the Termux team to audit, build, and package the software safely.
You can add a disclaimer stating the code is "work in progress" if you are concerned about stability.
This would greatly improve accessibility for users without requiring you to give up control of your project.
Note: I am an independent contributor (not an official member of the Termux team). I am willing to submit the initial package, but I cannot guarantee long-term maintenance.
