@bitsgalore I am writing up aspects of JSONID more formally, and in my literature search I came across your previous efforts with XML https://bitsgalore.org/2011/07/11/improved-identification-xml-python-experiment.html -- very cool!

The approach is pretty much the same (EAFP). Maybe it will fit into JSONID's mechanism if you don't mind me picking it up to try and refurbish it?

@ross-spencer I'd completely forgotten about this, from what I remember this was some experiment from the SCAPE era that we never followed up at the time. If any of this can be re-used into JSONID feel free to do so!

Me too! But I couldn't escape the feeling that there had to be something along these lines in the community somewhere, and lo and behold! Happy to be able to reference it and potentially dust it off :)
