Purchased SQLPro for Postgres a while back. Now when I open it, it's no longer recognizing the purchase and is prompting to start the trial or purchase. I've tried to restore the purchase but it's not being recognized. Did something change?

Nothing has changed on the licensing side, so this should be recoverable.

Since you installed from the App Store, the purchase is tied to your Apple account rather than to a license key. Restoring will work as long as you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple ID you originally purchased with. If you have more than one Apple ID, that is the most common cause of this.

The second usual item is a purchase of a different app, ie SQLPro Studio vs SQLPro for Postgres. Please ensure you are attempting to restore the purchase for the correct app.

If it still does not restore, could you forward your purchase receipt to kyle@hankinsoft.com? That should let me investigate further.

Sorry for the delay - I have been away for a few days.

Thanks for sending those. A quick check on your end may narrow this down right away: in the App Store app, click your name at the bottom left. It should show a section titled 'My Apps'. Could you send a screenshot of this window showing SQLPro for PostgreSQL in it? If it is not listed, that Mac is signed in with a different Apple ID than the one used for the purchase.

Either way, to investigate further I need:

1. The full original receipt email from Apple, forwarded as-is. Its "Apple Account" line tells me which Apple ID owns the purchase, which the invoice screenshot does not show.
2. A screenshot of the top of that App Store Account page, where the signed-in email address is displayed.

Chiming in with something that may be related. I use SQLPro for MySQL, also purchased through the Apple App Store. At some point in the last month or two the app has begun to regularly forget that I have a subscription. I've always been able to log in and restore it (so a bit different from the original issue here), but having to do so all the time is super annoying.

@jorrill I've made an update for the next build that I think will help out with this. I believe what you were hitting is a timing problem at launch. The app was checking your subscription before it had finished reading the App Store's records, so it could sometimes not recognize the purchase right away. Restoring fixed it each time only because the real answer had arrived by then. The next build reads the subscription state first and holds off on the prompt until it has an answer, so you should stop seeing it. If it does come back after updating, let me know and I can pull the details from the app's log (Help > Logs).
