NAACCR has asked us to update this algorithm to support the unknown values (A,B,C,D) that are used by other census tract lookups. This algorithm is a little different in that there is also a year component to the lookup. I discussed this with NAACCR and we will fold the year check in with the other checks. For example, "A" will mean that state, county, census tract, or date of diagnosis were invalid.
We also need to modify the logic used to compute the "year for lookup", since we will have an additional year of data in the SEER big data file.
2018-2022 will use the year provided as the data point. 2023+ will use 2022 as the data point.
