Button arrays on several pins

I have 18 buttons separated into three groups, so six buttons on each pin. I am using pins 34, 35 & 36.

I get it working by expanding the example code with two more buttons (still just one pin).

But I don't know how to make it work when adding another pin. Is it not possible and should I start over with all buttons on one pin ?

I changed my stripboard so it would all go to one pin and now it works with the example code.
At first I did not get a reading from one of the buttons but lowering the threshold from 100 to 10 showed it with a reading of 30.
I did not have any 1k resistors so my project is built with a mix of 1,2k and 1,5k.

Still is it possible to make this work using more than one pin?
If not maybe add to the readme that it only works with one?

I've got problems with button pushes being registered without anyone pushing the buttons. Mostly on the last button in the chain. It only seems to happen in the kitchen when plugging the ESP32 to a wall outlet, not when it is connected to my computer upstairs.
I changed some of the resistors to lower values (680 Ohms I think) to combat this, as stated before the one with the lowest reading was at about 30 and now I have it just above 100 but I still have ghosts.

The buttons generate MQTT messages that are being registered by Home Assistant.
