Become a sponsor to Yifeng "Evan" Wang
Hi, I’m Yifeng Wang, but you can call me Evan. I build tools that rethink where software can run, and what a personal computer can feel like.
My main projects are:
PocketJS: an open-source JavaScript runtime and UI stack for unconventional hardware. It brings JavaScript, JSX, modern styling, and application development to devices such as the PSP, PS Vita, and other embedded or homebrew platforms. The broader goal is to make creating software for these devices dramatically more accessible, while giving great hardware a second life.
Sheru: a new native shell for macOS. It brings files, terminals, remote machines, and online services into one reskinnable interface, exploring how the desktop can become more personal, programmable, and expressive without abandoning native performance.
Both projects involve work that is difficult to justify through conventional product economics alone: maintaining platform ports, acquiring and testing hardware, improving runtimes and rendering engines, documenting unusual systems, and turning experimental ideas into reliable tools.
Your sponsorship helps fund:
- Development and maintenance of PocketJS and its platform ports
- Hardware, development kits, testing devices, and infrastructure
- Technical writing, examples, documentation, and developer tooling
- Long-term experiments around native interfaces, embedded systems, and user-created software
By sponsoring my work, you are supporting a broader mission: making software creation accessible on more kinds of computers, preserving useful hardware through new software, and exploring alternatives to today’s increasingly uniform computing platforms.
Thank you for helping me continue building ambitious, independent software.
