Connection Dropping

Hi Zef: First of all, excellent job.

I've been experiencing connection dropping fairly often. Maybe every few hours, but not at consistent intervals. It's represented by either a failed save or load (just stuck with the Saving... or Loading... indicator top right).

I can resolve it by either closing and reconnecting to the same URL, or stopping my zedrem server and restarting. I'm running zedrem as a server on a remote machine, and the client on the same box, connecting over straight ws://

Is there a log being written somewhere you'd like me to send?

That's odd, I haven't seen that myself. Presumably this can't be due to a flaky network connection to the server? Log-wise it could be useful to send me the contents of the zed::log file in your project right after this happens (there may be something there) as well as any standard output of the zedrem in client mode as well as server mode. Basically any logs you got.

And how old is this version of zedrem? I update it occasionally, but don't do announced releases. It may be worth redownloading.

I last downloaded zedrem this week and have been using your user key functionality. I don't see much that might be useful to you in the logs. The server shows the client is connected and a bunch of GET and HEAD requests and in the editor the last lines during the last 3 instances were all * [log] [Sandbox]: Indexing file.js (line: 180), though it's not apparent whether these coincided with the "freeze" without timestamps.

I'm going to try running with secure sockets to see if that helps.. could very well be a bad router somewhere down the line messing up my packets. Will report back

Tried connecting via https using remote.zedapp.org and my user key and after a few hours had my first failed save (frozen on Saving...). Logs don't help much, sorry I'm not being much help. I don't think this is a network issue as I've witnessed the same hangups using zedrem to edit files on a Vagrant box locally.

Note that even if you edit files locally (or Vagrant) everything is still proxied through remote.zedapp.org so spotty internet could still explain it.

Even if I run zedrem --server on the "remote"?‎ I tried that as well. I'm also having this issue. Similar setup (DO droplet running zedrem, Windows or Chromebook running Zed Chrome App). I'm going thru remote.zedapp.org proxy.

If Zed is unable to auto-fix remote connection issues, it would be nice to have a command that would reconnect to the remote so we do not lose any edits.
