Alternative to #605
This is a minimally invasive change that does what I think is the desired goal. The problem is that new wallets do not need to request filters, but still need to find the chain of most work. I was thinking with #605 they may also want to check a few recent filters, but the configuration can be prone to footguns as explored in that pull request. Thinking on it more, I don't think there is much of a reason to add a filter window when the
rescan/rescan_frommethods already exist. If the user created a new wallet and wants to immediately get a payment, this initial sync should still be within a reasonable tolerance level (under a minute).In addition to this feature, to make the initial sync even faster, the hardcoded
HashCheckpoints might be introduced in a more maintainable/reasonable way.
