Abdullah Abdazeez Ayomide — Geo-spatial Planner and GIS & Remote Sensing Analyst

Abdullah Abdazeez Ayomide

I am a geo-spatial planner and GIS and remote-sensing analyst with a background in Urban and Regional Planning. I use satellite imagery, spatial analysis and modelling to study urban growth, environmental change, accessibility and climate-related risk.

My interest is to turn spatial data into clear evidence that can support better planning decisions.

Selected projects

Project What I did Current status
Lagos formal public-transport accessibility Combined a pedestrian network, mapped formal/core transit access points and WorldPop data to estimate walking access. Reviewed result: 53.44% of the analysed population was within 30 minutes of mapped formal/core transit; 46.56% was beyond 30 minutes or within a structural network gap.
Abuja urban-growth scenario, 2025–2035 Combined historical land-cover transitions with a suitability-based, quantity-constrained CA–Markov allocation. Published with caution: historical validation was modest (49.27% overall accuracy; Kappa 0.366), so the output is presented as a planning scenario rather than a forecast.
Ibadan land-cover change, 2013–2023 Reconstructed the classification and validation workflow after a forensic audit found that the original headline results were not adequately supported. Under reconstruction. Earlier accuracy and change figures have been withdrawn pending completion of the final deployment review.

Other work under review

I am also reviewing projects on flood risk in Lokoja, primary healthcare accessibility in Kano, drought and vegetation stress in northern Nigeria, land suitability in Enugu, conflict and displacement in Borno, urban green infrastructure in Tartu, and coastal erosion and settlement vulnerability in Ayetoro. These projects will be published only after their methods, results and documentation have passed a final audit.

  • Analysis: land-cover classification, change detection, network accessibility, CA–Markov modelling, MCDA/AHP and vulnerability assessment
  • Research workflow: Google Colab, VS Code, Git, GitHub, SPSS and Zotero

Current direction

My work focuses on geospatial evidence for sustainable, resilient and equitable urban and environmental planning. I am particularly interested in climate adaptation, coastal vulnerability, urban growth, accessibility and environmental management.
