Ashwin K M

Software engineer based in Bengaluru, India.

I work mainly with Laravel/PHP, React/TypeScript, Python/FastAPI, and C#/.NET, building production web applications, internal tools, APIs, background jobs, and operational workflows.

Outside work, I spend most of my time learning by building. Right now, that includes speech ML, ASR, LLM engineering, evaluation, agents, and developer tooling.

Work

My day-to-day engineering work includes:

  • Backend APIs and business logic
  • React-based applications
  • SQL and database work
  • Background jobs and queues
  • Notifications and scheduled workflows
  • OCR-assisted workflows
  • Internal tools and operational workflows
  • Production debugging and deployment

I enjoy working on problems where understanding the system and its real-world behavior matters as much as writing the code.

Outside work

MendSpeech

MendSpeech is the project I'm using to learn speech ML and ASR through hands-on work.

I'm currently working through audio fundamentals, STFT, log-Mel features, WER/CER, ASR concepts, and understanding how speech systems behave when audio is damaged.

LanBridge

A private project I'm currently building. I'm keeping the problem space and implementation details private for now.

Currently learning

I'm currently spending time on:

  • Speech ML
  • ASR
  • LLM engineering
  • LLM evaluation
  • Agent workflows
  • Model serving
  • Developer tooling

I prefer learning these topics by building small systems, testing them, and understanding where they fail rather than only reading about them.

Inference Engineering — Philip Kiely

Currently reading Inference Engineering from Baseten Books to understand the systems behind serving generative AI models in production.

A recent build

I built an autonomous GitHub issue resolver during the HSRFC × OpenClaw Builders Hackathon, where the project won first place.
