Hi I wanted a node that was basically identical to VideoMaskEditorMEC and was very surprised to find that it already existed as part of this project that I had never heard of. (I had been about to build an inferior version of it myself). I have run into a number of problems on my way toward trying out that node.
First, I struggled to determine that all nodes were being loaded by my ComfyUI. This project's readme file says to look for a message saying that 44 nodes have been loaded, but I was only seeing a message of that type with a 17 in it in place of the 44 (problem 1). This seeming error was supported by the failure of several of the included example workflows to load their nodes correctly (problem 2).
But then I threw Claude at the problem and it told me that actually things were probably working fine and that the 17 was probably only counting (correctly) the nodes in one of the titular Packs, or something like that? It also said that the final total node count might actually be as high as 72 or something, suggesting that the 44 in the readme was out of date? And it said that a bunch of nodes, including multiple ones referenced in the example workflows, had at some point been coalesced into some new, different nodes, meaning that the example workflows were obsolete and thus should have been failing. Very confusing!
Having straightened this out, I resumed playing with VideoMaskEditorMEC. I loaded a video and fed the batch of all its image frames to the mask editor. The editor, at this point, would only display the first 32 frames of my video (problem 3). (It generally worked fine otherwise.) Claude pointed me to a hardcoded 32 in js/video_mask_editor.js, which I increased to 256 just to see whether that'd help. It did, but my 125-frame video was now being needlessly stretched across 256 frames! With yet more help from Claude I learned that this problem, bafflingly, would disappear if I loaded the frames into an Image Preview node and then fed them from there into the mask editor node, rather than feeding them in directly. After that the editor worked and was amazing!!
One more little problem I ran into: When I change the key frames in the mask editor, save the result, and run my Preview Mask node beyond the editor again, nothing changes (problem 4). I seem to need to change one of the four values in the widgets on the face of the node, run the preview node, change BACK that widget's value, and run again, to properly update the Preview Mask node's display.
