Can't update via ESPhome

I reproduced the build failure with ESPHome 2026.9.0. It excludes two ESP-IDF libraries that our BLE component needs: json and esp_coex. The missing json dependency causes the cJSON.h error in your screenshot; after that is fixed, esp_coexist.h fails for the same reason.

As a workaround, add this to your device configuration in ESPHome Device Builder:

If your YAML already contains an esp32: section, merge these settings into it rather than adding a second section. Keep any existing framework settings and list entries.

Then try Install again. I successfully compiled an adopted configuration from the current public repository with this workaround on ESPHome 2026.9.0. Cleaning or resetting the build environment alone cannot resolve these missing dependencies.

I also prepared a permanent component fix so this override will not be necessary once the fix is published. The format-specifier warnings in the screenshot are separate from the fatal build error.

Please let me know whether your build completes with these settings.

The permanent fixes are now on main and included in release 1.3.1, built with ESPHome 2026.9.0.

This release fixes both the missing json/esp_coex build dependencies and a separate ESPHome 2026.9 runtime change that prevented BLE advertising. The YAML workaround above fixes compilation only; please use the updated component code as well.

For Device Builder, refresh the imported package and external components before rebuilding. Alternatively, pin both to 1.3.1 by merging this into your existing device YAML (replace the existing package URL rather than keeping both versions):

Keep your existing device name, Wi-Fi settings, API key, and other customizations. The temporary include_builtin_idf_components override is no longer required with the updated components.

The factory and adopted-path builds passed on 2026.9.0, and the corrected advertising was verified on the bench with discovery, reconnects, stack resets, and iOS app access. Please let me know whether your build and app connection now work.
