Eight eMudhra (emSign) intermediate CAs had recoverable private keys and were revoked on 2026-10-18. Every release so far is built with Go 1.26.9 (the v0.21.2 Linux binary reports go1.26.9). On Linux, Go verifies certificate chains itself and never checks revocation, so the Linux build accepts a certificate minted through those intermediates for any provider the collectors sign in to, with the user's password in the request.

The fix: go-version 1.26.10 in CI, the release build and the catalog-drift check, plus toolchain go1.26.10 in go.mod so a local wails build gets it too. Go 1.26.10 distrusts the eight intermediates in crypto/x509, whatever the machine's own CA bundle holds.

What each platform does, from a probe built with each Go version and run against https://dv-g3b-emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com and https://dv-g3b-aaa-emudhra.we-have-a-problem.com, hosts served through one of the compromised intermediates:

Platform Go 1.26.9 Go 1.26.10
Linux (geiserback, Debian ca-certificates 20250419) 200 on both: trusted x509: no valid chains built
macOS (MacMini) certificate is revoked, from the OS verifier same
Windows (NUC) certificate signed by unknown authority, from the OS verifier same

github.com returned 200 in every run. The app is a Wails 2 app, so the window is the OS webview (WKWebView, WebView2, WebKitGTK) using the OS trust store; it bundles no browser engine and no roots of its own.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Linux releases now use updated certificate validation that distrusts eight revoked eMudhra intermediates.
    • This improves protection against certificates issued through revoked intermediates during secure connections.
    • macOS and Windows certificate validation behavior remains delegated to the operating systems.
  • Documentation

    • Added a changelog entry describing the Linux certificate-validation update and platform-specific behavior.

…romised eMudhra intermediates

Go 1.26.9 on Linux verifies chains itself and never checks revocation, so the
Linux build accepted certificates minted through the eight eMudhra
intermediates whose keys were recoverable. Go 1.26.10 distrusts them in
crypto/x509. macOS and Windows defer to the OS verifier, which already refuses
them.
