fix(catalog): reject a malformed port when the catalog loads, instead of a 500 at deploy - #425
Conversation
… of a 500 at deploy
A port the deploy parser could not read ("9980", ":9980", "x:1:1") loaded
fine and then crashed the deploy with a 500. One parser, catalog.parse_port,
now serves the loader, the deploy route and LAN isolation: the loader rejects
the entry and names the bad mapping, and the route answers 400 if one gets
past it.
A rejected entry is dropped with only a log line, and neither guard noticed
one going missing: the CI step failed only if ZERO services loaded, the test
only below 40. Both now compare against the files on disk.

- Line 136: Update catalog validation around parse_port to track the Docker key

valid distinct mappings so api_deploy cannot overwrite a loopback-only binding
with another mapping for the same key.

…ainer port From review on #425: - `ports:`, `env:` or `volumes:` with nothing after it loads as None, passed validation and 500'd the deploy, which iterates them without a fallback. - "127.0.0.1:9980:9980" then "9981:9980" both parse to 9980/tcp, and the deploy keeps the last one, so a loopback bind could be silently made public. - The completeness checks counted only .yml files; the loader reads .yaml too.
CodeRabbit flagged this on #423. A catalog port the deploy code could not read, such as
9980,:9980orx:1:1, loaded without complaint and then crashed the deploy with a 500. The problem predated #423, but nothing stopped a malformed entry from shipping. There is now one parser,
catalog.parse_port, used by the loader, the deploy route and LAN isolation. It acceptsHOST:CONTAINERandADDRESS:HOST:CONTAINER, an optional/tcpor/udp, ports 1 to 65535 and IPv4 addresses. The loader rejects anything else and names the bad mapping. The deploy route answers 400 if one ever gets past the loader. That exposed a second hole. A rejected entry is dropped with only a log line, and neither guard noticed one going missing. The catalog CI step failed only when zero services loaded, and the loader test only when fewer than 40 did. Both now compare the loaded services against the files on disk. I checked both ways: with one entry's port changed to
9981, the old step passes (51 of 52 load) and the new one fails with['sia-hostd'], and the test fails the same way.All 12 new tests fail on main and pass here.
