Summary

pin the browser client to exact merged commit 698a6fba7ada94ea1e26348dda0e1c87e8dd8fc9 instead of a sibling-only file dependency
make CI and the Docker test path exercise a standalone checkout
document standalone installation and an optional local sibling override

Verification

fresh isolated npm ci with lifecycle scripts enabled
./scripts/test-in-docker.sh
60 Jest tests
TypeScript typecheck
ESLint (0 errors; existing warnings)
Chromium, Firefox, and Safari builds
bash -n scripts/test-in-docker.sh
git diff --check
