Separate logical transfer failure from physical completion with a wire-v3 drain fence, retained scatter/gather/RDMA ownership, and bounded fail-stop containment. Connect native proof to Python session retirement, capability negotiation, and the final executor resource-release boundary. Preserve default Python bounce selection and qualify the opt-in native lifecycle profile. Add CUDA fault-injection, native status-wrapper, lifecycle and retirement regressions. This provides the ownership prerequisite for NVIDIA#20049. Signed-off-by: Chuang Zhu <111838961+chuangz0@users.noreply.github.com>

session.cancel_local()runs before the blocking check. If the check passes andsession.close()succeeds for the send session,_retire_send_sessionis called. The fatal path then hard-stops the job, so the leftover state does not persist. The behavior is acceptable. Flow fences are never removed, so the receiver aborts after 1,048,576 cumulative fences.
closeFlow inserts into mClosedFlows, and onDrain inserts into mDrainRequested. No code path erases from either set. Every drained, cancelled, stale or forgotten flow therefore adds a permanent entry. After 1,048,576 entries, closeFlow calls std::abort().
In production, request_physical_cancel turns each cancelled in-flight bounce request into a DRAIN. Each failed sender request also produces a DRAIN. On a long-running generation worker, client cancellations alone can reach this count. The result is a deterministic process crash and memory growth that never stops.
An entry can be removed once its drain is complete. WANT and DATA for a request ID are published before failRequest under mReqMu. All three messages travel on the same FIFO channel as DRAIN. After the receiver processes DRAIN and its outstanding scatters finish, no message for that request can still arrive. A retried DRAIN only re-creates and re-acknowledges the fence. Keep fences created by lease expiry, empty WANT or forget until their DRAIN arrives.

A nullptr from postXferRequest now retains the staging region forever, but it proves that no RDMA was posted.
The code sets p.state = PostState::Writing before the call. NixlTransferAgent::postXferRequest returns nullptr only when createXferReq fails. In that case it has already released the handle, so no DMA was posted. That outcome is the safe case.
Here is the current path for a nullptr return:
pollSenderHandlesreportskFAILURE.failRequestmoves the chunk tomOrphanLocalwithxfer == nullptr.drainOrphanLocalskips every orphan whosexfer == nullptr, so the region is never released.progressDrainsseeswriting == true, so it never sendsDRAIN, andBounceRequestState::quiescednever becomes true.- Python retains the KV pages until the retirement deadline fires. The fatal path then kills the worker or the MPI job.
BounceTransport::shutdownalso aborts.
A realistic trigger is a createXferReq failure when the remote metadata is missing or was invalidated. The comment at Line 1378 still says that a nullptr result polls as kFAILURE. That no longer describes what the code does.
Keep the exception path as unproven, because an escaped submission has no handle that can prove the write stopped. For a nullptr return, recycle the region at once.

Rename the test to match its new assertion.
The function name is still test_receiver_in_doubt_retains_destination_and_closes_admission. The changed lines now assert receiver._ownership_poisoned is None. They also assert that an unrelated session can still be created and closed. The test therefore checks that admission stays open. A future reader may restore receiver-wide poisoning to "fix" the name. Rename the test, for example to test_receiver_in_doubt_retains_destination_without_closing_admission.

Description
When one KV writer fails while another C++ bounce scatter is queued or running, a logical receive failure must not release destination pages that the scatter can still overwrite. This PR adds physical completion evidence to the C++ transport and connects it to Python request retirement. It is an independent prerequisite for #20049, based on
main; default Python bounce selection is preserved.TransferStatus.is_quiesced()and asynchronousrequest_cancel(). Logical failure remains failure after the operation becomes physically quiescent. NIXL success is latched as completion evidence; failure, handle release and timeout are not evidence.DRAIN/DRAIN_ACK. The sender proves outbound RDMA completion; the receiver closes flow admission and waits for queued, dequeued and running scatters. Source gathers remain independently owned. Failed flows retain tombstones and unproved regions until explicit drain, including across message loss and peer invalidation. A changed endpoint cannot reuse an existing peer incarnation. The C++ protocol and Python integration are submitted together because neither side alone establishes the end-to-end retirement contract. Successful transfers retain the existing acknowledgment path; drain adds control traffic only on failure/cancellation. Failed flows can retain arena capacity, and unrecoverable failures can terminate the entire MPI job.
The initial supported C++ bounce profile requires matching ownership-capable endpoints, native NIXL bindings, a finite positive transfer timeout,
TRTLLM_DISAGG_NO_RETRY=1, async generation-first requests, PP1/CP1, non-layerwise/non-pipelined transfer, and a qualified MPI communicator withMPI_THREAD_MULTIPLE. This deliberately tightens the existing opt-in mode: unsupported profiles fail before transfer admission. Ordinary MHA/MLA, multiple TP writers and attention DP remain supported. Standalone C++ embeddings must use unique agent names per transport lifetime and retain buffers until quiescence. The serving documentation describes these constraints and termination behavior.Test Coverage
creditSchedulerTest(26),bounceMessageCodecTest(20),bounceTransportTest(7),bounceTransportFailureTest(23), andbounceAgentE2ETest(7): 83 tests.pytest tests/unittest/disaggregated tests/unittest/_torch/disaggregation -m cpu_only: 1,385 passed, 634 deselected, 2 xfailed.pytest tests/unittest/_torch/disaggregation: 357 passed (overlaps the CPU selection above).pytest tests/unittest/disaggregated/test_transceiver_bounded_polling.py: 58 passed, 1 skipped.test_python_nixl_cache_transceiver_uses_cpp_bounce: 4 passed: native C++ bounce MHA, MLA TP2 and V1 DSA KV/AUX transfer, plus unsupported PP2 preflight rejection. The regression coverage includes blocked real CUDA scatter and gather, multiwriter ownership, late DATA after destination reuse, dropped drain acknowledgments, unknown RDMA completion, peer incarnation changes, bounded shutdown fail-stop, generic non-FP4 admission exceptions, and the final executor resource-release boundary.
Validation uses an isolated source/build/runtime on one RTX A6000. Multi-GPU MPI and multi-node RDMA qualification have not been run; threaded TP tests on one GPU do not establish those guarantees. No model-level serving benchmark or complete wheel rebuild is claimed.
