The test already uses the runtime
list[list[int]]stop-word format and exercises accepted counts greater than one. It does not change the active request mix during the matching loop. Add a multi-token acceptance step that replaces or removes a request, then assert matching and metadata for the retained and new requests. The test is already listed in
tests/integration/test_lists/test-db/l0_a10.yml; no test-list change is needed.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Three bare-PyExecutor tests still lack a sampler and will hit AttributeError in _free_request_resources (inline). Also, #20462 edits _get_past_tokens and the FinishReasonsHandler kwargs this PR removes, so worth coordinating so only one lands as written.
btw, why Triton here rather than a CUDA C kernel? Curious what drove the choice.

Dev Engineer Review
The sampler replaces globally padded stop-word and history buffers with compact per-request allocations. Fixed-size slot metadata supplies the Triton matching and beam-history reorder kernels with pointers and dimensions. Single-token rules avoid history allocation, and beam-history work is skipped when no retained request needs it.
PyExecutor._free_request_resourcesreleases sampler-owned request data before the executor frees resources and returns sequence slots. Slot identity checks and allocation-generation tracking support slot reuse and CUDA stream lifetime protection.Beam-search metadata now carries compact stop-word metadata instead of a rolling token-window tensor. This changes
BeamSearchMetadataandBeamSearchHandler.build_metadata, and removesCBAStepResult.reordered_window. Callers and consumers must use the updated API.The reported memory reductions are from an isolated B200 diagnostic, not whole-model measurements. The reported benchmark does not establish a universal speedup or model-level throughput gain. Source-built executor integration and full-model accuracy were not rerun.
QA Engineer Review
Tests cover compact storage and matching, beam-history reordering, slot reuse, metadata cleanup, finish-reason precedence, stream behavior, idempotent release, and executor resource-release paths. Existing beam-search and sampler tests were adapted; two padded-buffer resize tests were removed. The reported test count is unchanged. The author reports six GPU test instances passed, 12 beam-state comparisons passed, and five lifecycle checks passed in an isolated AST harness. These reports do not include a full executor integration run.
test_beam_search.py,test_torch_sampler.py, andtest_finish_reasons_fused.pyappear in test-db CI lists.test_transfer_lifecycle_gpu.pyappears inl0_dgx_b200.yml; several of its cases are waived. No changed test-list files were reported, and the search found no matching changed tests in manual-QA lists. The reported CI run failed, but failure details are unavailable. Coverage verdict: needs follow-up.Per-File QA Perspective

No matching test-list entry was found.Description
A request with many stop-word rules and another request with a long rule currently increase the dimensions of shared padded stop-word/history tensors for every sequence slot. Their independent maxima multiply, so a small number of outlier requests can cause large persistent allocations and temporary copies, increasing OOM risk.
Replace the globally padded buffers with compact per-request allocations containing rule offsets, token IDs, and only the history needed by that request. Fixed-size slot metadata supplies pointers and dimensions to Triton matching and beam-history reorder kernels. Single-token rules do not allocate history, and beam search skips history work when no retained request needs it.
Release sampler-owned allocations through the executor's resource-release path before sequence slots are returned. Identity checks protect reused slots, and per-stream allocation-generation tracking retains
record_streamlifetime protection without repeating it every sampling step. Admission overwrites metadata before a slot is reused; release does not clear device metadata that outstanding kernels may still read. Request release also avoids scanning all retained requests on every step.Memory diagnostic (B200): 1,024 sequence slots, one request with 1,024 single-token rules, and another with one 256-token rule; beam width 1, one generated token per step. Measured handler-resident memory decreased from 1,075,938,304 bytes to 66,048 bytes; admission peak decreased from 1,158,860,288 bytes to 68,096 bytes. These are isolated handler measurements, not whole-model GPU memory measurements.
Sampler performance: replayed recorded Qwen2-0.5B logits using sampler_bench on B200; 100 warmup and 500 measured iterations per run. The following are medians of three per-run mean latencies, with all variants restricted to the same four CPU cores on the GPU-local NUMA node:
The target single-token case is near baseline in this controlled comparison. Unpinned runs were variable and did not establish a stable improvement; these measurements do not imply a universal speedup or model-level throughput gain. The kernels, ownership changes, and executor release hook form one change because the compact representation requires explicit allocation lifetime management.
Test Coverage
CI test-count delta: zero. Two unparameterized compact-storage tests replace two obsolete padded-buffer resize tests. Existing beam/executor tests are adapted in place; no new parameter combinations, CI stages, or test-list entries are added. Forced GPU-delay stress and performance experiments remain local-only.
