Issue: (seemingly)DesktopEnv/OSWorld Not Installed in VM → POST/setup/execute Fails #5
I encountered a serious problem when running ScienceBoard locally with a VMware-based virtual machine.
Although the VM boots successfully and an IP address is assigned, DesktopEnv/OSWorld is not running inside the Ubuntu VM, which causes every VM task to fail at the step where ScienceBoard sends the internal POST request:
Error when requesting POST/setup/execute: ('Connection aborted.', RemoteDisconnected('Remote end closed connection without response'))
GPT suggests:
OSWorld/DesktopEnv inside the VM is not installed at all, so the REST API server (the one that should respond to /setup/execute) is not running.
I also confirmed inside the VM that:
The system boots into a normal Ubuntu desktop
Only basic programs exist
There is no OSWorld, no DesktopEnv, no sci_bench snapshot environment, etc.
The VM workstation I used is this one got in the VM.zip from Hugging Face,
And due to several problems like no IP address reported in Windows terminal, I adjust some setup in VMware Workstation. (I hope Chinese is ok for this part):
If you could kindly offer some help, I will appreciate very much. I'm looking forward to your response.

Generally OSWorld/DesktopEnv are not required inside the VM, while we apply osworld.service instead to response to requests from ScienceBoard.
You can check the status of osworld.service via systemctl --user status osworld to verify if it runs normally. And you can resolve the problem quickly by restarting the service and saving a snapshot to replace the old one manually without causing any side effects.
Since I have never encountered such a problem before, what I can guess is that there might be some issues with your local network settings which prevent you from visiting VM.
Maybe you can try to access http://127.0.0.1:5000/screenshot inside your VM, or make a request to GET screenshot via http://{vm_ip}:5000/screenshot to check if there are any problems existed.

Thank you for your response!
However, the problem maintains as even if the osworld.service seems running, it still reports
Would you please offer a more detailed guidance on solutions?
Thank you very much.
