feat(native-hid): route Scyrox to its own client and open only its config collection - #62
Clanker Claude Opus 5.5 is responding on behalf of meetsu
Problem
Scyrox mice on CompX's vendor id (0x3554) are listed as Teevolution, and the Teevolution client cannot drive them. discovered_brand sends every 0x3554 product outside VGN and Noir Gear to Teevolution, and brands.mjs has no Scyrox entry, so PUT /v1/native/settings probes TeevolutionHidClient on a Scyrox receiver.
A second problem shows up once the right client is used. candidateDevices(0x3554) groups every collection of an interface into one adapter and listens on all of them. On Windows the Scyrox V8's "SCYROX 8K Dongle" (0x3554:0xf5f7) lists seven collections on interface 1, each its own path, and only 0xff02 usage 2 carries report 8. With all seven open, the client got no answer to its first query; through the 0xff02 path alone the same read took 87 ms.
Bisecting on the dongle, counting replies to 5 battery queries each:

Writes are not the cause: the other collections refuse report 8 (WriteFile error 1) and the adapter moves on. Reading the sibling collections is: once node-hid's reader runs on them, the dongle stops answering on 0xff02. Any pair of 0xff02 and one sibling still worked, so it is the number of readers, not one bad collection.
Fix
native-hid/src/brands.mjs: a scyrox entry with ScyroxHidClient, limited to SCYROX_PRODUCT_IDS from @openmouse/protocol/scyrox and to usage page 0xff02.
native-hid/src/hid-device-adapter.mjs: candidateDevices(vendorId, hints) takes an entry's optional productIds and usagePage. productIds drops other products on the vendor id; usagePage keeps only an interface's collections on that page. When no collection of an interface matches (hidraw on Linux lists one entry per interface, without usage pages), the interface is kept whole. Entries without hints get the same adapters as before.
native-hid/src/apply.mjs and native-hid/src/button-listener.mjs: pass the entry to candidateDevices.
src/drivers/mod.rs: compx_brand(product_id) maps 0xf515, 0xf517 and 0xf5f7 to "Scyrox", VGN and Noir Gear as before, and the rest to Teevolution. The brand-table test now also checks that each CompX brand has a brands.mjs key.
native-hid/README.md: the hints in "How dispatch works" and a Status note.
The V8 (0xf5f7) needs OpenMouse-Project/mouse-protocol#270 and a pin bump after its release. With the current v0.48.0 pin, SCYROX_PRODUCT_IDS holds only the V8S ids, so the helper skips the V8 instead of driving it with the wrong rate table; discovery already lists it as Scyrox.
Testing
On hardware: Scyrox V8 on its 8K dongle (0x3554:0xf5f7), mouse firmware v2.22, Windows 11, read-only.
The same Atlantis readStatus, twice in a row, through a HidDeviceAdapter on the 0xff02 collection alone (what the Scyrox entry now opens): 1,600 DPI, 2,000 Hz, battery 75%, in 87 ms and 114 ms. Through the adapter candidateDevices(0x3554) built before this change (seven paths): "Command 0x04 got no answer" after 1.9 s, both times.
The mouse-protocol branch verified a polling-rate round trip on this mouse with ScyroxHidClient on the 0xff02 collection (2,000 to 1,000 Hz and back, each read back).
Not tested: apply.mjs end to end on the mouse (it stayed asleep for the 20 minutes I waited after the change), the V8S ids through the Bridge, Linux and macOS, and writes through PUT /v1/native/settings.
Checks on Windows: cargo fmt --check, cargo clippy --locked --all-targets -- -D warnings, cargo test --locked (187 + 37 + 11 passed, 4 ignored, compx_products_go_to_their_own_brand new) and npm test in native-hid (23 passed, 4 of them new in candidate-devices.test.mjs).
#58 (G-Wolves) also edits the probing loops in apply.mjs and button-listener.mjs. Whichever lands second keeps both candidateDevices(vendorId, entry) and classesFor(entry, device.productId); I will rebase this one if #58 goes first.
Note
Add Scyrox brand entry with product-ID and usage-page filtering to native-hid
Adds a Scyrox entry for vendor ID 0x3554 in BRAND_DRIVERS (brands.mjs) that uses the Scyrox HID client and restricts candidates to its listed product IDs and the 0xff02 usage-page collection.
Extends candidateDevices (hid-device-adapter.mjs) with optional product-ID and usage-page hints. It filters products before grouping, keeps only entries on the requested usage page when present, and retains the full group when no entry matches.
All call sites that enumerate vendor devices (probe, apply, button-listener) now pass the brand entry to candidateDevices so these hints apply.
Adds a CompX brand classifier in Rust (mod.rs) mapping CompX product IDs 0xf515, 0xf517, and 0xf5f7 to Scyrox, and replaces the inline CompX vendor-ID match in discovered_brand with it.
Risk: behavioral change — CompX products previously resolving to Teevolution now resolve to Scyrox for the three listed product IDs; interfaces with no matching usage-page metadata fall back to the whole group instead of a single collection.
…nfig collection
Scyrox products on CompX's vendor id were listed as Teevolution. They now get a Scyrox brand and a native-hid entry for ScyroxHidClient. The entry narrows candidateDevices to its product ids and to usage page 0xff02: on Windows the Scyrox V8's dongle stops answering on that collection while its sibling vendor collections are read.

Walkthrough
The change adds CompX product classification for Scyrox and filters native HID candidates by product ID and usage page. The apply and button-listener paths now pass brand metadata during device discovery.

Summary
CompX product classification src/drivers/mod.rs
CompX product IDs map to Teevolution, VGN, Scyrox, or no driver. Discovery tests cover the mappings.
candidateDevices accepts product ID and usage-page hints. It filters product IDs and selects matching usage-page collections when available. Tests cover Windows-style collections and Linux-style entries with zero usage values.
The Scyrox entry uses its product IDs and usage page 0xff02. Apply and button discovery pass the entry to candidateDevices. The README reports Scyrox V8 reads on Windows and notes that the full apply path and protocol release remain outstanding.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Scyrox devices gain their own client routing and narrower HID collection selection without changing other brands’ enumeration. Exposure is limited to local peripheral settings; V8 configuration remains deferred until the protocol dependency supports it.

Bind each Scyrox battery read to its discovered mouse.
With two Scyrox mice connected, both discovered ids return the same mouse's status. The second mouse's battery is never recorded, and the one entry shows the first mouse. The status request sends only the brand, so the helper cannot select the requested device. Pass the device identity to the helper and select the matching candidate.

Pass the brand entry to candidateDevices in probeForBrand.
probeForBrand calls candidateDevices(vendorId) without the brand entry. For brand scyrox, the readStatus path therefore opens every interface-1 collection of the Scyrox dongle, including the sibling collections. The repository notes that the dongle stops answering on 0xff02 on Windows while those siblings are read, so the status read fails. apply.mjs and button-listener.mjs already pass the entry.

Update probeForBrand to pass the brand entry as the hints argument to
candidateDevices, so device selection applies the brand-specific filtering
already used by apply.mjs and button-listener.mjs.
Cover Scyrox product IDs in the helper consistency check.
The Rust consistency test compares brand keys and vendor IDs only. It never reads productIds. The helper test passes only 0xf517 through the production BRAND_DRIVERS.scyrox entry. No test passes 0xf5f7 or 0xf515 through that entry. A Rust-routed Scyrox product that the productIds filter drops would therefore pass both tests. A helper-side test can check each Scyrox ID that the Rust table routes.
Suggested test addition
assert.deepEqual(paths(adapters), [[dongle(0xff02, 0x02).path]]);
assert.equal(adapters[0].productId, 0xf517);
});
++test("every Scyrox product routed by the Rust driver table is accepted by the Scyrox entry", () => {+ for (const productId of [0xf515, 0xf517, 0xf5f7]) {+ const adapters = candidateDevices(0x3554, BRAND_DRIVERS.scyrox, () => [+ { ...dongle(0xff02, 0x02), productId },+ ]);+ assert.equal(adapters.length, 1, `Scyrox product 0x${productId.toString(16)} is dropped by BRAND_DRIVERS.scyrox`);+ }+});
If the pinned SCYROX_PRODUCT_IDS does not yet list 0xf5f7, this assertion fails for that ID. That failure marks the pending pin update that the README describes. Keep the Rust and helper ID lists aligned when routing changes.

probeForBrand in bridge-server.mjs now passes the brand entry to candidateDevices, so status probes open only the Scyrox dongle's 0xff02 collection, like apply.mjs and button-listener.mjs. The WebSocket list path is vendor-wide with no brand, so it keeps the unfiltered call.
New test: each product id src/drivers/mod.rs routes to Scyrox reaches BRAND_DRIVERS.scyrox (0xf515, 0xf517 today; 0xf5f7 joins with the pin bump after mouse-protocol#270). npm test: 24 passed.
Two Scyrox mice reporting one status: the helper's readStatus message probes by brand for every brand, not by device. Binding it to a discovered device changes that message, so I left it out of this PR.
