Both drivers claim disjoint interface shapes, so the shared 0x0300 receiver can expose either or both interfaces without a registry clash (the overlap sweep passes).
src/hitscan/xvi-inputs.ts: button action encode/decode and labels, KeyboardEvent.code → HID key tables, macro event stream codec, GBK name encoder/decoder (including the vendor's UTF-16LE Profile default-name marker).
src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.ts: HitscanXviHidClient reads the full settings surface into MouseStatus, refreshes battery/signal/active profile live, and verifies every write by reading the value back. Adds profile switching/renaming, six-slot button remapping (left-click slot protected), and the 20-slot macro library (read/write/delete with assignment guards).
MouseStatus gains four Hitscan-scoped optional fields (hitscanSpdt, hitscanClickTimings, hitscanTournamentScroll, hitscanCompetitiveMode).
Registry entry scores the web client above the native one; picker filters cover both product sets; README and docs updated, including docs/hitscan-web-protocol.md with the full command table and value encodings.
Hardware testing
None. Nothing in this PR is hardware-verified. Every value was read from the shipped web bundle:
vendor/xvi-20260924.min.js — packet constructors and reply offsets
app.js — UI ranges and defaults
Every setter reads its value back and throws on mismatch, so wrong assumptions fail loudly rather than silently. readStatus() stays resilient: battery, signal, colours, SPDT, timings and tournament scroll are optional reads; core sensor/settings failures still fail the read.
Unknowns
Behaviour on real X/N mice and both dongle firmware families.
Whether every firmware accepts all four DPI stages, 8 kHz, SPDT timings or the tournament-scroll timeout.
Whether the shared 0x0300 receiver exposes the native Utility interface and this control interface simultaneously.
Firmware flashing, pairing and factory reset are intentionally not exposed.
Tests
npm run check passes: build, 2740 tests, pack dry-run. New coverage:
src/hitscan/xvi.test.ts: frame/offset assertions, every decoder, button/macro round-trips, GBK names, notifications.
src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.test.ts: fake 64-byte feature-report device covering status, receiver identification, all setters with read-back, profiles, buttons, macro library, notifications and prefixed replies.
OpenMouse follow-up
No matching OpenMouse application PR yet; the new hitscan* status fields need UI wiring in the app repository. This PR only lands the protocol and driver layers.
Note
Add Hitscan XVI web control protocol and HitscanXviHidClient driver
Adds the XVI protocol layer in xvi.ts: request frame builders, reply validation, and decoders for profiles, DPI stages, settings, buttons, macros, and input-report notifications. Profile and macro names use GBK encoding with a UTF-16LE default-profile path.
Adds codecs in xvi-inputs.ts: button-action encode/decode with label lookup, macro event streams (validated for balanced key-down/up and no held keys), and GBK name encoding.
Adds xvi-hid.ts: a full HID client with serialized commands, feature-report polling with retries (up to 5 sends, 30 polls each), cached status, read-back-verified setters, button remapping, and chunked macro storage. The left button cannot be disabled or remapped.
Registers the client in registry.ts at score 10 ahead of the existing HitscanHidClient (score 7), and extends HID filters in vendors.ts.
Extends MouseStatus in mouse-types.ts with optional SPDT, click-timing, tournament-scroll, and competitive-mode fields. Protocol reference added in hitscan-web-protocol.md.
Behavioral Change: new Hitscan XVI product IDs now route to HitscanXviHidClient instead of the existing Hitscan driver; setters throw on read-back mismatch, and MouseStatus consumers see new nullable fields.
line 386: The name decoder removes whitespace as well as NUL padding, although hitscanXviEncodeGbkName accepts and preserves surrounding whitespace. For example, encoding and decoding " Work " returns "Work". Consequently HitscanXviHidClient.renameProfile writes this valid name but then throws its read-back mismatch error even when the device retained the exact bytes. Preserve whitespace when decoding (including the UTF-16 branch), or normalize/reject it consistently before writing. [ Cross-file consolidated ]
line 140: checkedBytes validates only after Uint8Array.from has already changed the input values, so its byte-range check can never reject invalid numbers. For example, hitscanXviButtonSetRequest(1, 2, 1, [257]) silently writes [1] (Left Click) instead of rejecting the invalid byte. MDN's TypedArray documentation states that integer arrays truncate decimals and retain only the lowest bits. Validate the original data elements before conversion so callers do not unknowingly send different button, colour, name or macro bytes. [ Out of scope (post-validation triage) ]
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
Added support for Hitscan XVI devices, including status and battery information, DPI and performance settings, profiles, button mappings, and macro management.
Device settings are checked after changes; unsupported or invalid macro data is treated as read-only.
Documentation
Added a reference for Hitscan web control and clarified how it differs from the native Utility protocol.
The web-control protocol has not been validated with physical hardware.
Add the control.hitscan.com generation (release 1.0.15-fe600431) beside
the existing native Utility protocol. It uses vendor 0x3770 products
0x0136 (Hyperlight X), 0x0194 (Hyperlight N) and the shared 0x0300
receiver over 64-byte feature report 0, not report 8.
The codec covers profiles, DPI stages/colours, polling, lift-off,
auto-sleep, sensor angle, Motion Sync, Performance/Competitive mode,
SPDT, click timings, tournament scroll, buttons, GBK names, the
20-slot macro library and input-report-4 notifications. The driver
reads the full status surface, verifies every write by reading it back,
and registers ahead of the legacy client without sharing an interface
shape. Not tested on hardware.
This change adds protocol codecs and a HID client for Hitscan XVi web control. It registers supported product IDs, exposes the new APIs, adds tests, and documents the protocol and its stated evidence limits.
Changes: Hitscan XVi support
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Protocol packets and commands src/hitscan/xvi.ts, src/hitscan/xvi.test.ts, docs/hitscan-web-protocol.md
Adds packet framing, request builders, reply decoders, notification decoding, and protocol limits. Tests cover packet handling, commands, values, and notifications.
Button, macro, and name codecs src/hitscan/xvi-inputs.ts, src/hitscan/xvi.test.ts, docs/hitscan-web-protocol.md
Adds button-action and macro-event encoding and decoding, plus GBK name handling and tests for these formats.
HID client and device status src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.ts, src/drivers/mouse-types.ts, src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.test.ts
Adds device detection, lifecycle handling, serialized feature-report transactions, and status reads. MouseStatus gains optional Hitscan fields.
Settings, profiles, buttons, and macros src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.ts, src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.test.ts, docs/hitscan-web-protocol.md
Adds setting and profile operations with read-back checks, button remapping, macro storage operations, and client tests.
The new Hitscan web-control driver is mostly sound, but a few small issues should be fixed. Settings shown after a profile switch can be out of date, the first status read can be slow on firmware lacking some optional commands, and some invalid macro keys are accepted instead of rejected. These are bounded, easy fixes, and the driver has not been tested on real hardware.

hitscanXviReply returns null for any reply whose status is not OK or ASLEEP. An explicit error reply for an unsupported command is therefore handled like silence. transact then runs SENDS × POLLS_PER_SEND × POLL_INTERVAL_MS, about 3 s, before it fails.
readSettings has up to six optional reads: colours, sleep, competitive mode, SPDT, tournament scroll, and timings. A firmware that lacks several of them can add 15–20 s to the first readStatus. The PR states that support across firmware variants is unverified, so this is a realistic case.
Add an optional parameter to transact, for example sends = SENDS. Let optional use a budget of one or two sends. Required reads and writes keep the full budget.

Fix the documented interface-selection mechanism.
hitscanXviReply only normalizes a reply and checks its status, class and command bytes. It does not select an interface. The descriptor-shape check (feature report id 0 with 512 bits) is in HitscanXviHidClient.isSupported. The registry calls isSupported for each Hitscan client entry. Line 27 also says the picker uses vendor/product only, but the registry gates each client on the descriptor check as well. Name the correct symbol so readers do not look for descriptor logic in the protocol module.

Reread the full status when the active profile changes.
readLiveStatus only replaces activeProfile when the profile id differs. DPI stages, active stage, polling rate, lift-off, sleep, flags, timings, and buttonMappings stay from the previous profile. A profile switch by a mouse button (the Profile Switch action) therefore leaves the UI showing stale settings for the whole session. The live path never does a full read.
setActiveProfile at Line 805 has the same root cause. It patches only activeProfile.
Make readLiveStatus clear lastStatus and return null when the profile changes. Then readStatus continues into the full read inside the same run task. In setActiveProfile, set this.lastStatus = null so the next read is also a full read.

Add HitscanXviHidClient to SupportedClient.
The registry returns this client, but SupportedClient does not include it. For example, Extract<SupportedClient, HitscanXviHidClient> resolves to never, which prevents typed consumers from selecting the new client through that type.
The build accepts the registration because the client structurally satisfies the smaller AjazzAk820HidClient interface. (raw.githubusercontent.com) Add the new client explicitly to the union.

Reject inherited property names in key and action lookups.
HITSCAN_XVI_MOUSE_ACTIONS, HITSCAN_XVI_KEY_CODES, HITSCAN_XVI_MOUSE_BITS and the sibling tables are plain frozen objects. Freezing does not remove Object.prototype. A caller-supplied string such as "constructor" or "toString" therefore resolves to an inherited function. The === undefined checks pass, so validation is skipped.
Concrete effect in hitscanXviEncodeMacroEvents: an event with key: "toString" hits the mouseBit !== undefined branch. mouse | mouseBit coerces to 0, so the encoder silently emits [1, 0] instead of throwing Unsupported Hitscan macro key. The mouse and key button actions have the same gap. The simple action throws a TypeError from [...entry.data] instead of a RangeError.
Macro events and button actions are boundary data, so these lookups should accept own properties only.
Apply the same helper to HITSCAN_XVI_SIMPLE_ACTIONS and HITSCAN_XVI_MEDIA_CODES at lines 109 and 114, and to the HITSCAN_XVI_MODIFIER_CODES lookup in hitscanXviButtonLabel at line 215.
Based on learnings: check whether boundary data is used with shape or type assumptions that runtime validation does not guarantee.

hitscan-device.js— transport, retries, settings map, telemetry, profile/macro orchestrationhitscan-input-codec.js,hitscan-inputs.js— button/macro codecs, macro storage, namesvendor/xvi-20260924.min.js— packet constructors and reply offsetsapp.js— UI ranges and defaultsEvery setter reads its value back and throws on mismatch, so wrong assumptions fail loudly rather than silently.
readStatus()stays resilient: battery, signal, colours, SPDT, timings and tournament scroll are optional reads; core sensor/settings failures still fail the read.Unknowns

npm run checkpasses: build, 2740 tests, pack dry-run. New coverage:src/hitscan/xvi.test.ts: frame/offset assertions, every decoder, button/macro round-trips, GBK names, notifications.src/drivers/hitscan/xvi-hid.test.ts: fake 64-byte feature-report device covering status, receiver identification, all setters with read-back, profiles, buttons, macro library, notifications and prefixed replies.OpenMouse follow-up
No matching OpenMouse application PR yet; the new
hitscan*status fields need UI wiring in the app repository. This PR only lands the protocol and driver layers.Note
Add Hitscan XVI web control protocol and
HitscanXviHidClientdriverHitscanHidClient(score 7), and extends HID filters in vendors.ts.MouseStatusin mouse-types.ts with optional SPDT, click-timing, tournament-scroll, and competitive-mode fields. Protocol reference added in hitscan-web-protocol.md.HitscanXviHidClientinstead of the existing Hitscan driver; setters throw on read-back mismatch, andMouseStatusconsumers see new nullable fields.📊 Macroscope summarized 19e81ba. 10 files reviewed, 8 issues evaluated, 2 issues filtered, 6 comments posted

hitscanXviEncodeGbkNameaccepts and preserves surrounding whitespace. For example, encoding and decoding" Work "returns"Work". ConsequentlyHitscanXviHidClient.renameProfilewrites this valid name but then throws its read-back mismatch error even when the device retained the exact bytes. Preserve whitespace when decoding (including the UTF-16 branch), or normalize/reject it consistently before writing. checkedBytesvalidates only afterUint8Array.fromhas already changed the input values, so its byte-range check can never reject invalid numbers. For example,hitscanXviButtonSetRequest(1, 2, 1, [257])silently writes[1](Left Click) instead of rejecting the invalid byte. MDN's TypedArray documentation states that integer arrays truncate decimals and retain only the lowest bits. Validate the originaldataelements before conversion so callers do not unknowingly send different button, colour, name or macro bytes. [ Out of scope (post-validation triage) ]Summary by CodeRabbit
