What

  • LICENSE: the Apache License 2.0 text as apache.org publishes it, with the appendix boilerplate filled in (Copyright 2026 Mengyang Liu), the way SGLang's LICENSE does.
  • NOTICE: the copyright notice that the MIT file held.
  • pyproject.toml: license = "Apache-2.0".
  • README.md: the license badge and the License section, which now also links NOTICE.

Why

Sprout moves from the MIT License to the Apache License 2.0. No other file in the repository names the license: the sources carry no SPDX headers, and the tests, the gate, the CI configuration and docs/ do not mention it (git grep).

Tests

  • gate/run.sh: 8 of 8 checks pass, also as the pre-commit hook of the commit.
  • tests/repo: 45 passed.
  • A wheel built with uv build has License-Expression: Apache-2.0 and ships LICENSE and NOTICE under dist-info/licenses/.

Deviations

  • The gh-pages branch is not part of this change.
