Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added dedicated local storage for books, reading progress, bookmarks, annotations, and reading settings.
    • Book deletion now also clears associated reading data.
    • Preserved local book metadata, cover, progress, annotation, bookmark, and typography workflows.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved cleanup of reading data when removing books.
    • Added safe handling for missing or invalid locally stored data.
  • Refactor

    • Updated library browsing, reading, bookmarking, annotation, and settings workflows to use the new storage services.

How can I continue?

After more reviews become available, a review can be triggered using the @coderabbitai review command as a PR comment. Alternatively, push new commits to this PR.

To avoid repeated limits, reduce automatic review volume by pausing incremental auto-reviews earlier, using label-based review opt-in, excluding WIP or generated PR titles, or requesting reviews manually when the PR is ready. If your team needs uninterrupted high-volume reviews, an organization admin can enable usage-based reviews.

How do review limits work?

CodeRabbit enforces per-developer PR review limits within each organization.

For paid Pro and Pro+ reviews, CodeRabbit uses a developer's included PR review attempts over the past 7 days to set the current hourly allowance. At typical activity levels, the full plan allowance applies. Higher sustained activity can lower the allowance until earlier attempts leave the 7-day window.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The mobile data layer is split from mobile/lib/library.ts into five local services. Mobile screens and reader hooks now use these services. Book deletion clears the book and its related local reading data concurrently.

Changes

Mobile local data services

Layer / File(s) Summary
Dedicated local service APIs
mobile/services/*
Book, progress, bookmark, annotation, and settings operations now use separate { local: {...} } service APIs backed by AsyncStorage.
Book deletion cleanup
mobile/app/(tabs)/index.tsx, mobile/services/bookService.ts
Book deletion removes book files and concurrently clears progress, bookmarks, annotations, and settings.
Consumer migration
mobile/components/*, mobile/hooks/reader/*, mobile/lib/reader/calculations.ts
Components and reader hooks now import types and operations from the dedicated services.
Refactor record
CLIENT_SERVICE_HOOK_REFACTOR.md
The document records completion, validation, device/simulator verification, and the cleanup-boundary decision.

Estimated code review effort: 3 (Moderate) | ~25 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 40c01

Book deletion can remove the book while related progress, bookmarks, annotations, or settings cleanup is still failing, leaving orphaned data with no retry path; several persistence writes can also fail without being handled. Merge readiness is moderate until the cleanup sequence and write-failure handling are fixed or explicitly accepted.

Handle rejected persistence writes.

These methods return promises, but the calls have no rejection handlers. Attach handlers to touchBook, settingsService.local.save, progressService.local.save, and updateProgress so failed writes do not cause unhandled rejections or leave stale local state. Report each failed progress write separately if both can reject.
