github-growth-kit — 7 Community Issues, One Command

github-growth-kit — 7 tailored GitHub issues in under 2 minutes

7 tailored GitHub issues created in under 2 minutes to grow stars and build a contributor community

7 tailored GitHub issues created in under 2 minutes to grow stars and build a contributor community — reads your README first, never creates generic filler.

If this saves you the "my repo has no community" problem — star it. Takes 2 seconds.
⭐ Star on GitHub

The Problem

Repo owners write GitHub issues one by one when they get around to it. The issues are generic — "add tests", "improve docs" — because they're not written with a specific visitor in mind. There's no demo GIF, no show-and-tell thread, no star milestone that makes people feel like they're part of something.

Visitors land, read a thin README, find no community activity, and leave without starring. Contributors comment "I'd like to work on this" and get silence or a wall of process text.

The Fix

community issues

The skill reads your README and existing issues, then creates 7 issues tailored to what your repo actually does — no generic filler. When a contributor comments asking to help, one more command drafts and posts a welcoming reply.

How It Works

Mode A — Create community issues

Say community issues (or any trigger below). The skill:

  1. Reads your repo's README via GitHub MCP
  2. Lists existing open issues to avoid duplicates
  3. Creates 7 tailored issues specific to your project
# Issue type What it does
1 Demo recording Specific to your project's main feature — references exact files and tools
2 Show and Tell A thread for users to post what they built — becomes social proof
3 Star milestone tracker 10 → 50 → 100, each milestone unlocks something
4 Awesome list submissions Target lists matched to your project's category
5 Content article Angle based on your project's value prop
6 Feature request A natural next feature for your specific tool
7 CONTRIBUTORS.md Recognition system to retain contributors

Labels used: good first issue, community, documentation, enhancement — never help wanted.

Mode B — Reply to contributor

Share a comment link where someone asked to work on an issue. The skill reads the comment, reads the issue body, and posts a welcoming reply with specific steps drawn from the issue — not a wall of process.

Trigger Phrases

Say this What happens
community issues Mode A — create 7 issues for a repo
create community issues Mode A
grow my github community Mode A
add community issues Mode A
[paste issue comment URL] Mode B — draft and post a contributor reply

What Makes It Different

The skill reads the README before writing a single issue. A demo recording issue for a CLI tool references asciinema. The same issue for a web app suggests Loom. The star milestone tracker links to the demo recording issue by number. The awesome list targets are matched to the project's category (claude skills, python tools, CLI apps, etc.).

Generic issue generators produce generic issues. This one doesn't.
