Fixes #1132

Summary

TestLocalAdoptionSavesAndReloadsEligibleModel called provideronboarding.DetectLocalRuntimes without a Timeout, so it inherited defaultLocalProbeTimeout (400ms). probeLocalRuntime treats a timeout as "runtime not running" and drops the candidate without an error, so under -race on a busy runner one slow loopback round trip empties the result and the test fails with expected one detected runtime: [] (the flake seen in the Race Detector job on #886 at 433653b8).

The test now passes a 5-second Timeout. Production behavior is unchanged: the 400ms default still applies outside tests and remains covered by TestDetectLocalRuntimesAppliesDefaultTimeout in internal/provideronboarding, which pins it with an explicit 20ms timeout. Only the test named in the issue is touched.

Verification

  • go test ./internal/cli/ -run '^TestLocalAdoptionSavesAndReloadsEligibleModel$' -count=10 passes
  • go test -race ./internal/cli/ -run '^TestLocalAdoptionSavesAndReloadsEligibleModel$' -count=5 passes
  • go test ./internal/cli/ -count=1 passes
  • make fmt-check, go vet ./..., git diff HEAD --check clean

Note on fail-without-change: the original failure is timing-dependent and not reproducible on demand (30 attempts passed on the reporter's machine), so there is no deterministic pre-change failure to quote. The change removes the 400ms dependency rather than altering an assertion; the flake mechanism is described above.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Tests
    • Set a five-second timeout for a local runtime detection test and clarified which test covers the default timeout.

TestLocalAdoptionSavesAndReloadsEligibleModel relied on the 400ms
defaultLocalProbeTimeout, which treats a slow probe as "runtime not running"
and silently drops the candidate; under -race on a busy runner one slow
loopback round trip can exceed it and empty the detection result. Pass a
5-second test deadline instead. The production default is unchanged and stays
covered by TestDetectLocalRuntimesAppliesDefaultTimeout.

Comment thread internal/cli/provider_adoption_test.go Outdated
TestDetectLocalRuntimesAppliesDefaultTimeout pins the probe timeout with an
explicit 20ms deadline, so it covers timeout enforcement rather than the
400ms production default. Reword the comment accordingly; no assertion or
production behavior changes.

Addresses the CodeRabbit finding on Twigpine#1136.
