Summary

Prepare v0.7.2 after #169, which is merged with successful CI. Update the CMake and Python package versions together, add README release highlights, refresh the installation/integration guides, and add 0.7.2 release notes to the documentation navigation.

Changes since v0.7.1 include Python type hints and API documentation, path-like inputs, clearer errors, index representations, internal quantization refactoring, and streamlined regression checks. Existing public APIs and index formats remain compatible.

Testing

• Release automation: 48 tests passed; version consistency and PR build-without-publishing behavior checked.
• Built a portable CPython 3.13 wheel and checked its Python/CMake version metadata.
• Strict MkDocs build, local Markdown link-target checks and git diff --check passed. Historical migration and benchmark version references are retained.
• test: reduce redundant validation and stabilize GIL checks #169 completed its selected C++/Python/platform wheel checks successfully. This version-bump PR must pass its own CI; the full release wheel ABI matrix runs after merge.

Full txtai/zvec integration tests were not rerun for this release, following the scoped compatibility review. Public integration signatures, code layouts, rotation state, CMake exports and index formats are unchanged. Quantization refactoring and Python path handling are covered by the library's numerical, boundary and persistence tests. This is a risk assessment, not a claim of executed downstream acceptance tests.

Merging this PR enables the existing automatic release flow: after Test and Python Wheel succeed for the same main commit, Release wheels builds/tests all release wheels, creates v0.7.2, publishes to PyPI and creates the GitHub Release. This PR does not publish anything by itself.
