SimpleStorage stores eligible routed-expert cells and PUT/GET frames as uint8 while preserving int16 controller schemas and consumer tensors. The existing alias/range safeguards remain; the -1 sentinel is shifted only when it cannot collide with a valid ID, and legacy frames/checkpoints remain readable.
The same codec serves live storage and checkpoint packing. Snapshot ownership accounting traverses known TensorDict metadata, keeps unknown ownership on the synchronous path, and logs each storage cut's decision before writing. No tokens, masks, log probabilities, route entries, clocks or checkpoint publication rules change.
Validation: exact head 417c699 passed 200 native runtime-291 controls, zero skips, including real private local-Ray public KV asynchronous durable save/restore, unchanged int16 field schemas and exact route/token/position/mask/logprob hashes, legacy and invalid-encoding cases. Compileall, Ruff and diff checks pass. Original failed fixtures remain recorded. No production memory/throughput, GPU R3 replay or separate immutable-reference architecture claim. Implementation and tests were AI-assisted.
