Do the PIs have an actual command for low voltage shutdown? I know the radio stops working below a certain voltage but is that because they just go into a state where they don't run correctly or is it a legitimate shut down command?
For batteries without their own BMS, it is probably good for the batteries to not be allowed to drop below their recommended voltage. I also wonder if a low voltage state or unexpectedly removing power can damage or corrupt the PIs or SD card.
Simply, voltage < x volts, issue command to turn off.
(The cutoff voltage would have to be high enough that the system can still read the voltage and issue the command.)
