Summary

Release candidate for VideoDepthViewer3D v1.2.0.

  • Adds calibrated Auto Source View framing and source-aligned pinhole projection so the source image borders remain straight in monitor, SBS, WebXR, and Looking Glass views.
  • Adds automatic Smooth, Balanced, Quality, and Manual depth-performance modes with adaptive resolution and compact depth transport.
  • Removes depth-stream request-order head-of-line stalls while preserving timestamp-based browser synchronization.
  • Adds Looking Glass framing, zoom, pan, click-to-focus, scene-cut recovery, and foreground safety controls.
  • Improves WebXR/SBS framing and keeps view controls independent from source calibration.
  • Adds Windows CUDA package selection and conservative Windows defaults: two concurrent inference tasks and sequential single-image DA3 preprocessing.
  • Adds generated test-media tooling, timing instrumentation, and backend/frontend regression coverage.

No video, screenshot, image, archive, model checkpoint, cache, runtime log, or generated media binary is included. Generated fixtures remain below the ignored tmp/ tree.

Hardware validation

Windows / WSL

  • Native Windows and WSL application startup: passed.
  • Generic WebXR from both native Windows and WSL-hosted app servers: passed in the Windows browser/runtime.
  • Looking Glass with native Windows Bridge, browser, frontend, and backend: passed.
  • Looking Glass through WSL Bridge is not supported; the native Windows path is documented in the README.
  • Windows PyTorch resolves to a CUDA wheel, two inference workers avoid WDDM stalls, and single-image DA3 preprocessing avoids excess CPU worker contention.

Ubuntu GPU stream

Hardware: NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell, PyTorch 2.10.0+cu128, Balanced mode, 640 px inference, log8 depth, 2x depth downsampling.

  • Generated 1080p30 H.264: 36.13 end-to-end FPS; 180/180 packets; 0 missing, 0 duplicate, 0 ms timestamp-grid error.
  • Generated 4K30 H.264: 32.74 end-to-end FPS; 180/180 packets; 0 missing, 0 duplicate, 0 ms timestamp-grid error.
  • Transported depth remained 320x180 and approximately 57.6 KB/frame for both source resolutions; source RGB stays at native browser quality.

These figures describe this validation machine, not a universal performance guarantee.

Automated validation

  • Python Ruff, compileall, shell syntax, and lockfile checks: passed.
  • Backend tests: 47 passed locally and in GitHub Actions.
  • Frontend ESLint: passed locally and in GitHub Actions.
  • Frontend tests: 105 passed locally and in GitHub Actions.
  • TypeScript and Vite production build: passed locally and in GitHub Actions.
  • npm audit: 0 vulnerabilities.
  • Public-tree secret, absolute-path, binary, media, and large-file audit: passed.
