No description provided.

docs/terms.md has a warranty disclaimer (§9) and a liability cap (§10), and
nothing in the product ever asked anyone to agree to them. A link in a footer
is browsewrap; until there is an affirmative assent and a record of it, those
two clauses protect nobody.

So: a terms_acceptances table, append-only by privilege rather than by
convention, and a service that refuses to create a project, redeem an invite,
sign a terminal in, or register a replica for an account with no row in it. A
fresh account cannot reach a synced or registered state by any route without
one -- asserted against a real PostgreSQL, which is the mechanical proof that
the liability cap binds.

The version lives in apps/service/src/legal.ts and nowhere else. Every surface
asks GET /v1/legal for it, prints it beside the link, and posts the same value
back; anything else is refused with a 409 rather than recorded. A stored
version that is not the published one is outstanding again, which is the half
of §11's re-acceptance promise a program can keep.

The four surfaces: an unticked checkbox and the 16-or-over line on sign-up, the
statement above the button on sign-in, the checkbox in the /device form (the
one most people actually arrive through), and a consent screen in front of the
redeem call on /join. Nothing is ever pre-ticked.

And the CLI prints the notice where the risk is taken -- Crosscode writes into
your working tree and can overwrite a file you are looking at -- once per
machine, with a keypress, and --yes for CI.
