Gap is a native iOS app that turns short pockets of free time into realistic next steps. Instead of showing an overwhelming to-do list, it starts with the time available, filters tasks by context, and can recommend one task with priority-aware weighted selection.

Short gaps between classes, meetings, commutes, and appointments often feel too small to use well. The challenge is not only limited time; it is deciding what is realistic in the current situation.
Gap reduces that decision to a focused loop:
choose time → narrow by context → choose or receive a task → complete it → see reclaimed time
- Time-first task filtering for 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30-minute gaps
- Context-aware suggestions for Anywhere, Computer, Phone, and Outside
- Pick for me, using weighted random selection so higher-priority compatible tasks are more likely—not guaranteed—to appear
- Task creation and completion with duration, category, notes, context, and priority
- Time Reclaimed, which totals the duration of completed tasks
- Completed-task history and focused empty states
- Local persistence with SwiftData; no account or backend required
The project began with a time-filtering hypothesis. Five semi-structured discovery interviews highlighted decision friction, context, priority, and the motivational value of cumulative progress. Those findings shaped the MVP, which was then refined through manual end-to-end checks and an informal usability check.
