This repository is the GitHub profile README and the source for the portfolio and resume at aspauldingcode.com.
I build software close to the machine: the layers under apps. My work centers on native compositors, macOS and iOS runtime tooling, reverse engineering, and Nix-based cross-platform infrastructure.
Started programming at 10 with LEGO Mindstorms. Still happiest asking: why does the platform prevent this, and can I redesign the architecture?
"Build Bridges - Not Walls."
| Project | What it is |
|---|---|
| Wawona | Native Wayland compositor for macOS, iOS, and Android. Rust core, Metal and Vulkan, Nix toolchain. Nested Linux desktops, Waypipe, on-device shell. |
| apple-sharpener | macOS Ammonia tweak for configurable window corner radii (300+ stars). |
| Whisperer | Voice ChatGPT client for Apple Watch (Swift, watchOS). |
- Wayland and graphics pipelines on Apple and Android (
wwn-iland, weston, waypipe, and related ports) - macOS desktop environment research (AppKit, SkyLight, injection)
- Reproducible builds with Nix flakes and cross-compilation
- Reverse engineering tooling that feels native, including agent-driven workflows
Day-to-day: Objective-C · Swift · Rust · C · Nix
Also: Python · Bash · Java · TypeScript (when the world insists)
Domains: macOS and iOS internals · Mach-O / dyld · inter-process communication · compositors · continuous integration · Fastlane / TestFlight · Ghidra / LLDB

aspauldingcode.com measured 7 Sep 2026 with npm run bench. Frameworks are checked weekly and on each Portfolio tests / Vercel build.
| Lab | Score |
|---|---|
| Search engine optimization (SEO) | 100 / 100 |
| Speed | 100 / 100 |
| Frameworks | up to date |
Search engine optimization (SEO) here is on-site only: unique /work HTML, www canonicals, robots, sitemap, and query-shaped titles. It is not a ranking guarantee and does not score LinkedIn, GitHub, or wawona.io. Speed is first-load JavaScript and CSS vs a static-first budget: homepage script is 21 KB (Next.js was 427 KB). Frameworks are Astro, the Vercel adapter, React, and their current major line. A newer major is listed in CI, not a fail.
