Flag repeated checks on already-guaranteed values in the maintainability review - #428
The maintainability review's list of things to challenge now includes repeated checks on values a schema, constructor or internal type already guarantees: typeof and property-existence checks, null guards and try/catch around them.
A value is validated once, where it enters as unknown. The reviewer confirms that boundary exists and checks the same property before proposing to remove the inner copies, and keeps any check whose input can still be untrusted, so rules/core.md is not weakened.
Docs-only change: one bullet in skills/hr-maintainability-review/SKILL.md and one CHANGELOG.md entry.
Checks: npm run check and node --test test/*.test.mjs pass. bun test skills/ has one failure, verify-landed.test.js:664 (directory mode 16893 expected, 16877 received), which fails the same way on unmodified main. A cross-vendor local review of the diff returned PASS with no findings.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Documentation
Updated maintainability review guidance to clarify when validation can be handled at an input boundary and when checks should remain because values may still be untrusted.
Added a changelog note covering repeated validation of values already guaranteed by a schema, constructor, or internal type, including identifying where validation belongs.
…ity review
Add a "Repeated checks on trusted values" item to the review's list of things to challenge: typeof and property checks, null guards or try/catch around a value a schema, constructor or internal type already guarantees. The reviewer confirms the owning boundary validates the same property before proposing removal, and keeps checks whose input can still be untrusted.

Walkthrough
The maintainability review guidance now addresses repeated checks on values guaranteed by schemas, constructors, or internal types. It directs reviewers to verify boundary validation and retain checks for potentially untrusted inputs.
The skill advises validating unknown input at its boundary, confirming the boundary checks the same property before removing inner checks, and retaining checks for potentially untrusted input. The changelog adds repeated validation to the review challenge list.

Explanation
The title names the main change: the maintainability review now flags repeated checks on values that a schema, constructor, or internal type already guarantees. The changeset adds one bullet to the SKILL.md guidance and one CHANGELOG entry, both matching this focus. The title is specific and concise, so it passes.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description covers the purpose of the change, the boundary-ownership rule, and the scope (docs-only, one SKILL.md bullet, one CHANGELOG entry). It also reports test results and the one pre-existing failure. The template's checklist items are not ticked, and the template asks for rule wording and how the agent behavior changed. The description does not state the admission-criteria details (evidence of the observed failure, activation limits, placement) that the template mentions for new rules or skills. The description is mostly complete, so it passes. The author should tick or address the checklist items and consider adding the admission-criteria context.
