fix(client-sdk): stop compose box discarding in-progress notes - #3

The window scroll listener is capture-phase, so it also fired when the compose textarea scrolled internally once a note grew past its fixed height, closing the box and dropping the draft mid-type. Ignore loupe's own UI in that listener, reposition the compose box on real page scroll instead of closing it (via the existing rAF tick loop), and let the textarea auto-grow before it needs to scroll at all. Also persist the in-progress draft (text, selector, caret) to sessionStorage so it survives the shell reloading the artifact iframe when the underlying file changes, and restore it (including focus, but only if the textarea itself was genuinely focused) once the anchor element can be found again.
…ugin version Reviewer follow-up on fc56a09: - Move positionComposeBox before both ta.focus() calls in openCompose. Focusing the box while it still sat at its off-screen placeholder risked the browser scrolling it into view, a visible jump on every open and a spurious scroll event during draft restore. autoGrowTextarea still runs first on restore so the height is settled before the position (and its top/bottom flip) is computed. - Stop deriving the persisted "focused" flag from document.activeElement at blur/pagehide time, it has already moved on by then and would always read as unfocused. Track it in a closure variable driven by explicit focus/blur listeners instead. The blur-to-false transition is deferred by one macrotask and cancelled if pagehide fires first, so a blur that is only a side effect of the iframe document tearing down for reload does not zero out the flag before the final draft snapshot is taken; ambiguous cases resolve in favor of restoring focus rather than silently dropping it. - Bump .claude-plugin/plugin.json to 1.0.1 to match package.json, since Claude Code reads the plugin version from that file to decide whether there is an update to deliver.
dist/ is committed on purpose: this is a Claude Code plugin distributed as a GitHub repo, and plugin installs fetch repo contents with no build step, so a gitignored dist/ would break every install. Mark it as generated output anyway so GitHub collapses it in PR diffs and excludes it from language stats, and so local git diff treats it as binary instead of flooding output with compiled JS. Also normalize line endings for this cross-platform CLI.
npm install ignored package-lock.json, so installs were not reproducible; switch to npm ci. The bare push trigger combined with pull_request meant every push to a branch with an open PR ran the whole matrix twice; restrict push to main so PR validation comes only from the pull_request trigger. Node 18 is end of life and inconsistent with devDependencies that already target @types/node ^26, so replace the [18, 20] matrix with [22, 24, 26] and add a package.json engines field to match. Run npm test instead of a bare node --test so CI and local runs use the same command, and cache npm installs via actions/setup-node's cache option.
Hiding dist/ from PR diffs via .gitattributes makes stale compiled output more likely to slip through unnoticed. Add a job that does a clean install, rebuilds from src/, and fails with git diff --exit-code if dist/ changed, telling the contributor to run npm run build and commit the result. Verified locally that git diff --exit-code still reports a nonzero exit status for a dirty dist/ despite the -diff attribute, it only changes the diff from a text hunk to "Binary files ... differ", not the exit code. Runs on a single Node version, there is no reason to rebuild the same TypeScript across the whole matrix just to compare output.
package.json and .claude-plugin/plugin.json were manually bumped to 1.0.1 on this branch, but release-please is about to take over version management and computes its own bump from the conventional-commit history. Reset both back to 1.0.0, last released version, staying equal to each other, so release-please opens the 1.0.1 bump PR instead of us pre-empting it by hand.
Seeds release-please with bootstrap-sha bfbd3e9, the current origin/main head, so it only considers commits after it: the two fix commits on this branch plus the ci and chore commits that do not affect version. component loupe with tag-separator -- produces tags like loupe--v1.0.1. extra-files keeps .claude-plugin/plugin.json in sync via jsonpath, since Claude Code reads that file's version to decide whether to deliver an update to consumers. The manifest is seeded with 1.0.0 explicitly, an empty manifest would make release-please fall back to the node release-type default of 0.1.0. Schema values transcribed from an upstream-verified source, not independently re-derived here. Two are worth flagging for anyone reviewing this: component is honored by release-please but is absent from its published JSON schema, an editor or schema validator may flag it as unknown even though it is correct, and none of this can be exercised locally, release-please only runs once this reaches GitHub.
Runs googleapis/release-please-action on push to main, plus a manual workflow_dispatch trigger for recovery, pinned by commit SHA with a version comment to match the sibling openapi-zod-ts repo's supply-chain practice (same pin, same action version). Grants contents, issues, and pull-requests write, all three are part of the action's documented basic configuration. This repo has no publish step: it ships as a Claude Code plugin distributed via the GitHub repo itself, not via npm, so unlike the sibling monorepo's release workflow there is nothing to publish once release-please tags a release. The job only opens the release PR and, on merge, creates the tag, GitHub Release, and changelog.
The CI matrix and package.json engines field already moved to Node [22, 24, 26] in an earlier commit on this branch; the README's install and requirements sections still said Node.js 18+, which is now factually wrong. No release-please-related hand-bump instructions were found in README.md or SKILL.md, so no changes were needed there.
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe browser SDK now persists inline compose drafts across reloads, restores their anchor and state, and keeps the box positioned during scrolling. Repository changes require Node.js 22+, validate generated output in CI, and add automated Release Please workflows. ChangesCompose draft persistence

Disable credential persistence for the artifact-check job.
actions/checkout@v4 persists the workflow token by default. Since this job runs npm ci and npm run build from pull-request contents, malicious code can exfiltrate the token. Set persist-credentials: false for this checkout.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Detect untracked generated files.
git diff --exit-code -- dist/ does not report a newly generated file that is not tracked. If a source change produces a new dist/** file, this job passes while the committed plugin output remains incomplete. Check the untracked dist/ paths as well, for example with git ls-files --others --exclude-standard -- dist/. (git-scm.com)

GitHub Actions events triggered by GITHUB_TOKEN do not create new workflow runs official documentation; googleapis release-please-action v5 token input default GITHUB_TOKEN
💡 Result:
According to official GitHub documentation, events triggered by the GITHUB_TOKEN do not create new workflow runs, a behavior designed to prevent accidental recursive workflow execution [1][2]. There are two primary exceptions to this rule: 1. workflow_dispatch and repository_dispatch events always create workflow runs [1][2]. 2. pull_request events with the opened, synchronize, or reopened activity types create workflow runs that are placed in an approval-required state, allowing users with write access to manually trigger them [1][2]. Regarding the google-github-actions/release-please-action, the action's token input defaults to using the GITHUB_TOKEN if no other token is provided [3][4]. Because of the GitHub-wide restriction on the GITHUB_TOKEN, if you use the default token, the release pull requests or tags created by the action will not trigger subsequent GitHub Actions workflows (such as CI checks) [4][5]. To ensure that subsequent workflows, such as CI or release-triggered automations, execute automatically, you must provide a personal access token (PAT) or a GitHub App installation token via the token input [4][5].

Provide a workflow token that can trigger CI, or verify that checks are not required.
.github/workflows/ci.yml runs on pull requests targeting main. With the default GITHUB_TOKEN, GitHub does not automatically run workflows for events created by the action. Pull request exceptions may place runs in an approval-required state. If main requires CI checks, the release pull request can remain unmergeable. Pass a PAT or GitHub App token through token, or verify that these checks are not required.

Summary
Fixes a bug where typing a longer annotation note could silently wipe the draft, and hardens CI/release tooling as a follow-up.
Root cause
The compose box had a
window-levelscrolllistener, registered in the capture phase, that calledcloseCompose()on any scroll. The intent was to close the box if the page scrolled out from under it.The bug: scroll events do not bubble, so a normal bubble-phase listener on
windowwould never see a scroll that happened inside a child element. But capture-phase listeners run top-down, before the event reaches its target, so awindowlistener registered with{ capture: true }still receives scroll events that originate from descendants, bubbling or not.The compose textarea has a fixed height and starts scrolling internally once a note exceeds about 3 lines. That internal scroll is a real DOM scroll event dispatched on the textarea, and the capture-phase
windowlistener fired for it, treating "I scrolled while typing my note" as "the page scrolled, close the box" and destroying the in-progress draft.Fix (fc56a09, bd7da14)
sessionStorage, so a draft also survives the artifact iframe being reloaded, which happens whenever the agent edits the file on disk while the user is mid-note.Infra changes (573ca3d..69c071d)
.gitattributes: marksdist/**aslinguist-generated=true -diff.dist/is committed on purpose and must stay that way: Claude Code installs this plugin by fetching repo contents directly, there is no build step on install, so an uncommitteddist/breaks every install. Note.github/workflows/release.ymlonly triggers on push tomain, so it will not run as part of this PR's checks.Notes on this PR's CI run
This is the first run of the reworked workflow end to end, so a few things are worth watching rather than assuming are broken:
actions/setup-node's runner images. If only the Node 26 matrix leg fails, that's almost certainly why, not a code issue.dist-driftrebuilds on Node 24 and is compared against adist/that was last built locally on Node 25. It matched locally; if it fails in CI, that's a genuine finding that the build isn't byte-reproducible across Node versions and is worth digging into rather than dismissing.Summary by CodeRabbit
