feat(backup): prove recovery from the independent snapshot store - #5470
Moving company Email credentials needs proof that an independent backup can restore their complete contents.
What
Adds a guarded, read-only verification that downloads a fresh backup, restores it in isolation and compares the original Email credentials. Production verification remains required after the repaired snapshot job completes.
Local validation at bf1f30a67e0552c8dd8081417f3d8b693a139a24: the full root Go suite passed. Scoped race tests, Go lint, Actionlint and whitespace checks also passed. Positive controls first reproduced the missing reader/workflow behavior; the added close-failure control reproduced an accepted incomplete response before its fix. Independent HTTP transport controls exercise refusal of redirects and ambient proxies.
The existing pinned native-server restore controls remain in CI. Actual production download and recovery acceptance remain pending: the main-only verifier must run after #5406 has deployed a fresh completed snapshot job. No production recovery input has been read by this session, and neither #5407 nor credential migration is complete.
A manually dispatched workflow now collects and validates OpenBao recovery inputs, then runs sandbox verification and requires an exact pass result for three records at version 2.6.3. The collector restricts Kubernetes reads, validates a recent matching snapshot, and stores private inputs in a protected temporary directory. Tests cover collection and workflow constraints. The runbook documents the verification procedure and its limits.
devantler-tech/platform#5388: It concerns the same three Email credential records, and this PR supplies the recovery proof that its stated custody gate requires.

Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 53.85% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 13 functions across 5 files. (3 skipped: 3 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

after collection and before sandbox verification; update the cleanup step
containing `unset OPENBAO_RECOVERY_DIR KUBECONFIG` so the directory mounted into
the verification container no longer contains `kubeconfig`.

Learning: For GitHub Actions concurrency configuration in this repo, don’t use `queue: single` on a shared production concurrency group (e.g., `prod-deploy`) that is used for normal production deployments—`queue: single` will cancel/replace any pending run in that group. Normal production deployments must use a uniform `queue: max` for that shared group to ensure serialization without coalescing. If you need DR rebuild coalescing (replacement of pending DR rebuild runs), it must use a separate DR-only concurrency scope/group (not the shared production `prod-deploy` group).
[error] 145-145: An argument passed to exec.Command/exec.CommandContext is built by concatenating a string literal with dynamic input. If that input is attacker-controlled (and especially when the command is a shell such as sh -c/bash -c), this enables OS command injection. Pass untrusted data as separate, fixed arguments instead of interpolating it into a command string, avoid invoking a shell, and validate/escape the input where a shell is unavoidable.
Context: exec.CommandContext(ctx, "kubectl", "--context=admin@prod", "--request-timeout=20s", "--namespace="+namespace, "get", kind, name, "--output=json")

[warning] 168-168: Narrowing a non-constant integer to a smaller fixed-width type (int8/int16/int32, uint8/uint16/uint32) can silently overflow or wrap, yielding negative or truncated values that are dangerous in size, length, or index logic. Validate the source value is within the target type's range before converting (e.g. bounds-check, or use a checked helper), and avoid narrowing untrusted or len()/parsed values.

Ready at bd21fe8f20d3d0e9a609fd029cb5a608ce1a9c74: all 55 reported checks are settled without failures, the native merge state is CLEAN, both review threads are resolved, ancillary findings are addressed, and Codex's current-head receipt reports no major issues.
User evaluation: the actual native regression job restored a snapshot into the pinned server and passed matching, corrupt-snapshot, different-record and wrong-unseal-key controls. The same job ran the real workflow shell handoff with synthetic collection tools, proving the sandbox receives its four intended inputs without the cluster credential, and refuses collection failure, private-result leakage and changed main. The complete Go suite and bounded signing/HTTP controls also pass.
This is the reviewed main-only, dispatch-only reader required to obtain privileged recovery evidence. Actual production archive collection cannot run before this workflow is merged; it remains an explicit subsequent gate on #5407 and #5376. No production restore, credential migration, storage encryption or service cutover is claimed by this source delivery. The opaque Code Quality rule is reported UNVERIFIED by the completeness helper; CLEAN is the native decision, and only the ordinary protected queue will be used.
