…ci-lint

golangci-lint v2.11.4 cannot read Go 1.27 export data, so the reports
controller build fails once the builder moves to golang 1.27. v2.13.0 is
the first release with go1.27 support; pin v2.13.2.

Adapted this Renovate PR and took it out of the merge queue first (now a draft, auto-merge off).

  • Why: Verify reports controller failed at 59f5fa5. The golang 1.27 builder compiles golangci-lint v2.11.4, which cannot read Go 1.27 export data (export data version 5 is greater than maximum supported version 2). CI - Required Checks still passed, so the queue would have merged a reports-controller build that fails on main.
  • Fix: 385fb37 pins golangci-lint v2.13.2. Go 1.27 support first shipped in v2.13.0.
  • Next: CI and a semantic review at the new head. Then promote and do a head-pinned merge.

v2.13.2 still failed: its golang.org/x/tools v0.49.0 reads pkgbits only up
to V4, while Go 1.27.2 writes V5. x/tools v0.50.0 added V5 (golangci-lint
v2.14.0+); pin the latest release, v2.15.0 (x/tools v0.52.0).

Correction to my previous comment: v2.13.2 was not enough. Verify reports controller failed again at 385fb37 with the same export-data error.

The golang.org/x/tools v0.49.0 in v2.13.x reads pkgbits only up to V4, and Go 1.27.2 writes V5. x/tools v0.50.0 added V5, and golangci-lint v2.14.0 and later include it. 59c7f89 pins v2.15.0, the latest release, which uses x/tools v0.52.0.

Unparked 2026-11-01. #5492 is implemented at 23c4ba5: the lint gate now covers only the lines the hotfix patch changes. This head is agent-adapted, so it needs CI and a fresh review before promotion, then a head-pinned merge through the queue. Evidence is on #5492. Earlier blocker, kept for the record: 12 findings in upstream Kyverno source at 59c7f89.

Release review, golang builder 1.26.9 to 1.27.2, and golangci-lint v2.11.4 to v2.15.0. Read from the Go 1.27 release notes and the golangci-lint changelog. I did not read the 1.27.1 and 1.27.2 point release notes.

  • Scope: only the reports controller hotfix image is built with this builder. Kyverno's go.mod stays at go 1.26.9, so the changes gated on the go line, such as traceback labels, do not apply.
  • Changes that reach this binary: encoding/json is now backed by v2 with v1 semantics, though error text may differ. Timer channels are always unbuffered, an HTTP/1 response body drains on close, and small allocations are cheaper. The notes announce no changed default for this controller's TLS. The go test -race step on the report and validation packages passes on this builder.
  • Removed GODEBUG settings: the build passes, so none is set to a non-default value in a way that fails.
  • Lint: v2.15.0 is needed to read Go 1.27 export data. Its deprecations do not touch the flags used here.

No workaround becomes removable, and there is nothing to adopt. Not run on a real cluster. A merge publishes a new image. No manifest in this repository references that image at this head, so the merge alone does not change what the cluster runs. platform#5546 also edits this Dockerfile and asserts a Go 1.26 build, so it must be reconciled with this builder when it re-enters.

Self-review (fallback — CodeRabbit, Codex and Cursor Bugbot unavailable)

Reviewed commit: 23c4ba5c4e0d162b89446c3e5e586a2277a5c148

  • CodeRabbit: it does not review bot-authored PRs, and its replies on platform#5596 at 04:16:46Z and 04:21:33Z report the included review limit as reached.
  • Codex: usage limit since 2026-10-31T17:59:28Z (review-lane-health at about 04:05Z). Only the maintainer can lift it.
  • Cursor Bugbot: usage limit since 2026-10-31T17:23:28Z (review-lane-health at about 04:05Z). Only the maintainer can lift it.

The patch copy runs after the source tree check in both jobs, and it reaches only the builder stage: the final image copies the binary alone. Local runs with planted findings are recorded on #5492. Verify reports controller passes at this head on the real builder. The release review is on this PR.

Verdict: no P0/P1 findings

Supplemental release review at 23c4ba5c4e0d162b89446c3e5e586a2277a5c148, covering the two point releases the earlier record explicitly left unread.

Sources: Go release history, the 1.27.2 security announcement, and every commit subject in 1.27.0…1.27.1 (15 commits) and 1.27.1…1.27.2 (46). The existing major-release and linter review remains separate.

  • 1.27.1: compiler/generic-method, JSON decoding and HTTP body-draining corrections are inherited by the builder and rebuilt executable. SQL/SIMD fixes introduce no configuration or adoption work here; their reachability was not established. Documentation and upstream test corrections need no product change.
  • 1.27.2 correctness: compiler/export-data, JSON, HTTP response-body/TLS-state, compression, ML-KEM, runtime and vet/race/coverage corrections are inherited where used. The publisher does not invoke go fix; its changes need no adaptation. Windows/iOS and non-amd64 fixes do not affect this explicit Linux/amd64, CGO-disabled output. No local workaround or tuning override was identified for removal.
  • All 15 security fixes: HTTP/2 HPACK, trailer limits, window-update cost, framing and flow-control; both HTTP/1 CONNECT cases; Range limits; malformed ECH; both module/toolchain checksum cases; both JavaScript-template escaping cases; MIME limits; and Windows root-junction handling. These are also in the current 1.26.9 baseline. Retain their fixes and defaults; this version move is not evidence of new remediation for those same defects.

One newer security requirement remains: GO-2026-6809 identifies 1.27.2 as preceding the x509 fix in 1.27.3; the maintained 1.26 line is fixed in 1.26.10. Existing Security issue #5545 and draft #5546 already cover the patched runtime and actual-compiler proof, so no duplicate issue was opened. When reconciling that draft with this PR, preserve a patched compiler: retain 1.26.10 or use at least 1.27.3, and update its exact compiler assertion consistently.

This is source/range evidence. It establishes neither executable reachability nor publication or deployment safety, and does not clear #5545's audit and adoption gates.

Post-merge publication verified for merged source 3a8b750d3c36bcf9dc25f0d16f5936a030e8218e.

  • Publisher run 41277647138, original attempt 1, passed verification, image publication and signature verification. The build logs show the resource, aggregate and validation package race tests passing.
  • Independent registry readback found ghcr.io/devantler-tech/platform-kyverno-reports@sha256:49f9037d85be4c45a4f7d843458e8b0ebb2caa65d6e2ad4ac23191f2359d3a49, with the image revision label equal to that merged source. Its Linux/amd64 manifest is sha256:185c107b3e56f0fbf654bb12d571035235448907cc62721374fecc6a97ce7c07.
  • Independent cosign verification passed for the main-branch publisher identity and GitHub Actions OIDC issuer. Static inspection of the digest-verified image layer found the published reports-controller executable built with Go 1.27.2, GOOS=linux, GOARCH=amd64, CGO_ENABLED=0.
  • The same-source Validate Main, Code Quality and Release workflow completed successfully.

This completes the carried publication check. Runtime adoption and security acceptance remain tracked by #5545 and #5546; they are still open. No deployment or security-remediation result is claimed here.
