What: Start search-engine pingers at config.index_filename and update the generator guidance, upgrade notes, and regression coverage.

Why: Persistent storage can retain retired XML artifacts, causing Google and IndexNow to process sitemaps no longer referenced by the root index.

Where: Pinger selection, the install template, search-engine documentation, the upgrade guide, and pinger tests.
