Release of 1.6.0 from main.

Merging this and pushing v1.6.0 triggers the publish pipeline (npm + GitHub Release).

release: keep earlier CHANGELOG sections and add the 1.6.0 section alone

cut-release.sh regenerated the whole file, which reverted the hand edits
under 1.5.3 and earlier. Restore them and insert only the 1.6.0 section,
with the agmsgd beta described in full. Map the two component-prefixed
fixes (#1580, #1592) so git-cliff keeps them.
