What changed

• Replace risky native-endian (_ne_) encoding with explicit little-endian encoding, so mode values don't depend on the machine. Access and flow now get two bits each.
• Use encode(kind, access, flow) instead of kind.encode(access, flow) so each mode's three properties read together.. and are treated together (visually).
