Fresh installations currently have no model shortcuts, so operators must recreate common shortcuts manually and copy versioned model IDs. This supplies
:astra,:sol,:terra,:fable,:opusand:sonetfrom the newest supported stable family versions in the engine catalogs whenever no shortcut list has been saved.Explicit lists, including an empty list, remain authoritative. Unrelated settings saves preserve inheritance; editing shortcuts pins that list. Existing threads and ordinary engine/model defaults remain unchanged. No model version is duplicated in a shortcut defaults table; aliases, previews and dated snapshots are excluded, and absent families are omitted.
Validation: 10/10 unit/pipeline tests and actual Chromium disposable Settings test passed, including fresh defaults and unrelated-save preservation. Independent reviewer passed 28/28 focused tests and approved the final diff. Static, secret scan, security coverage and DCO checks passed. Native private Slack provider acceptance is defined in TEST-PLAN.md and the private QA registry for both engines, not claimed as executed. Full local coverage suite status is recorded in the task evidence.
Beta only. Stable clients receive these defaults when this change is included in an approved stable release. Claude follows the installed gateway's curated catalog; Codex follows its authenticated CLI catalog with bundled fallback, so CLI/gateway updates still control availability of newly released models.
