The Linux desktop you design, not configure.
HelixOS is a concept for a modern, highly customisable Linux operating system. It aims for the cohesion and craft of the best consumer desktops — while remaining its own OS. Not a clone. Not a skin. Not a theme pack.
Neighboring Linux desktops can claim knobs. HelixOS claims customisation that keeps one designed instrument.
At the centre is the Adaptive Shell: layout, window chrome, dock and panels, gestures, and system theming are first-class, visual, and coherent — so deep personalisation does not dissolve into config-file fragmentation or theme frankenstein.
| Inspired by | Not |
|---|---|
| Day-one clarity and polish | An Apple product clone |
| Linux under the hood | A ricer’s settings dump |
| Ownership of your desktop | Locked-down consumer OS |
The standout product idea: rearrange the shell like modules on a rail. Dock, panels, and chrome snap to a shared grammar. Gestures stay in tune across every patch. Theming goes deep without breaking cohesion.
Every layout is still HelixOS — grid, tiling, mono focus, left dock, top bar — swap the arrangement without abandoning the system language.
One product story, five audiences:
- Creatives — a calm canvas that still bends when the work needs panels
- Developers — a fast Linux base with a coherent UI shell
- Switchers — polish without the lock-in
- Power users — deep patches that stay on the same bus
- Beginners — something that feels finished on first boot
Marketing surfaces live in a modular-synth studio metaphor:
- Matte panel faces and aluminum mounting rails
- Amber and cyan patch cables as brand signals
- Dark OLED wells for product mockups
- Night-desk atmosphere — glowing modules, recessed chrome
The site is intentionally dark. The atelier reads as a night desk with lit jacks, not a daylight dashboard.

Assets live under web/public/brand/ (mark, lockups, icons) and web/public/desktop/ (synthetic Adaptive Shell layouts for the concept site).
This repository captures the concept brand and marketing homepage. Desktop UI imagery is synthetic and labeled as such. There is no shipping ISO yet — the Download CTA is wired for the marketing flow with placeholder media.
We invent a consistent product world. We do not invent fake users, rankings, or “used by” claims.

Concept stage. Brand, Adaptive Shell story, and marketing craft are the deliverable. The OS itself is still forming.
