I think that before working on a higher-level implementation for the new Microsoft.Extensions.VectorData abstraction, it would be good to have a low-level .NET Chroma client. There's ChromaDB.Client which is an open-source community project, where we've also helped out (specifically Jiri Cincura ↹ (@cincuranet)); but that project is a bit behind and needs to be brought up to date (for example, it's still stuck on the Chroma v1 API, see ssone95/ChromaDB.Client#69).
Ideally, Chroma itself would own its .NET SDK and keep it up to date, similar to other language SDKs - is this something you'd be willing to look into? Once there's a good .NET SDK as foundation, writing a Microsoft.Extensions.VectorData implementation on top of that should be quite easy.
Let me know if you'd like to set up a call to discuss all this!

Bump on this. We're getting pretty close to releasing Chroma Cloud so we'd love to help add integrations with our platform.
If you'd like, we can attempt to do this ourselves.

The provider is in the AI Community Toolkit as CommunityToolkit.VectorData.Chroma (CommunityToolkit/AI#58), built on ChromaDotNet.Client, which uses the Chroma v2 API and works with Chroma Cloud. #14579 removed the old connector and points to it, and the C# docs are proposed in MicrosoftDocs/semantic-kernel-docs#460.
