…nonce gaps

getNextNonce() only ever moves forward (max of the L1 node's pending nonce and the locally cached pnonce+1), so it can never rediscover or refill an earlier nonce the service has lost track of locally. Add TX_SUBMITTER_FORCE_NEXT_COMMIT_NONCE (default 0/disabled) to force the next commit tx onto a specific nonce once, then auto-clear so normal nonce selection resumes afterward.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added an optional setting to override the nonce for the next commit transaction. The override is used once and then cleared; a value of zero leaves the automatically selected nonce unchanged.
  • Improvements
    • Expanded transaction and recovery logs with nonce selection details, pending transaction counts, and a message when no transactions need recovery.

Claude Code Review is paused for this repository because its GitHub organization is not linked to your Claude organization.

To turn it back on, one person needs both roles: owner of the GitHub organization (or the account owner, for a personal repository) and admin or owner of your Claude organization. If that is not you, pass this on to someone who is.

Open Organization settings, Git providers and click Link next to the GitHub organization's name. If it is not listed, click Enable GitHub integration or Connect your GitHub first, whichever the page shows.

New pull requests are then reviewed as before. To get a review on one that is already open, someone with write access can comment @claude review.

Walkthrough

The change adds an optional force_next_commit_nonce flag and maps its value into Config. When the value is greater than zero, Rollup.rollup uses it for the next commit transaction and then resets it to zero.

Changes: Commit nonce override

Layer / File(s) Summary
Flag and configuration wiring

Adds the optional force_next_commit_nonce flag and maps its value into Config. Zero disables the override.
Apply override during commit
tx-submitter/services/rollup.go
When the configured value is greater than zero, Rollup.rollup uses it instead of the computed nonce, logs both values, and resets the override.

The recovery override can still fail to recover a stuck nonce and can cause later nonce collisions; these issues should be resolved before merging.

Skip getNextNonce() when the override is set.

The override branch runs only after getNextNonce() succeeds. A PendingNonceAt error therefore prevents the supplied nonce from being used, although the forced value already provides the nonce. Read the override before calling getNextNonce(), and call getNextNonce() only when the override is disabled. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Keep the cached pending nonce monotonic.

If the forced nonce is lower than the current cached nonce, the existing r.pendingTxs.SetNonce(tx.Nonce()) call after submission moves the cache backwards. A later normal submission can then select a nonce already held by a higher pending transaction. Update the cache with the maximum of its current value and the submitted nonce. Clear the override only after successful submission.

If transaction creation, signing, or SendTx fails, Line 1061 has already consumed the override even though no forced transaction was submitted. The next retry then uses normal nonce selection and can skip the recovery gap. Move the clear until after SendTx returns nil. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Persist or document consumption of the one-shot override.

ForceNextCommitNonce is loaded from TX_SUBMITTER_FORCE_NEXT_COMMIT_NONCE at startup. The code clears only the in-memory value. If the environment variable remains set across a restart, the next process loads and applies the same nonce again. This violates the documented one-time behavior unless operators must clear the variable before every restart.

Persist a consumed marker, or document and enforce clearing the source configuration before restarting the service.
