Web Defacement Monitoring Tool

Periodically monitor the content of your webpage and check for the presence or absence of certain contents in it. Analyse if your website contents changes and get notified accordingly. The intent of defacement is usually to change, vandalize, delete content or intercept information. Defacement monitoring can prevent far reaching consequences and “pharming” of potential customers.

The WDMS makes use of the Windows and Linux environment.

Virtual Environment

The Virtual Environment has 3 virtual machines on it (2 Windows machines and 1 Linux machine). Use the following credentials are used for accessing the Virtual Environment.

IP address/Name: 146.64.213.226

User name: student

Password: SkY9gfhn

Use the following credentials are used for accessing the Linux machine on the Virtual Environment.

User name: tebogo

Password: 1234

Basic Usage

Linux Environment

The following commands are to be executed in a Linux terminal.

Ubuntu v14.04 uses the wdmsScripts3.php

Ubuntu v16.04 uses the wdmsScripts2.php

• Initialise everything and add to database

$php wdmsScript.php -e <Email Address> -w <Webserver Domain> -s <Server Address> -p <Path To Web Docs> -i

• Verify website content

$php wdmsScript.php -e <Email Address> -w <Webserver Domain> -s <Server Address> -p <Path To Web Docs> -v

• Delete all content from database

$php wdmsScript.php -e <Email Address> -w <Webserver Domain> -s <Server Address> -p <Path To Web Docs> -d

• Force updating of all content

$php wdmsScript.php -e <Email Address> -w <Webserver Domain> -s <Server Address> -p <Path To Web Docs> -f

• Help

$php wdmsScript.php -h
