Specification mismatch

The current CreateSpeechRequest.voice description lists fable, onyx, and nova as supported built-in speech voices. The referenced VoiceIdsShared enumeration omits all three. Generated Java SpeechCreateParams.Voice consequently has no corresponding constants.

The unrestricted string alternative still permits callers to supply these names manually, so this is an incomplete enumerated vocabulary and SDK discoverability problem, not rejection of all requests using these voices.

Expected correction

Make the speech voice vocabulary agree with the supported voices documented by CreateSpeechRequest, and regenerate affected SDK constants. If this shared vocabulary also serves APIs with a narrower set of voices, represent the endpoint-specific distinction explicitly.

#401 was closed after adding ash, coral, and sage. This report preserves the different missing voices identified in the Java issue. The source also questioned cedar and marin; the current speech description includes both, so that portion is already addressed.

Rechecked against the current published specification and Java v4.68.0: the mismatch remains. CreateSpeechRequest.voice documents fable, onyx, and nova, while VoiceIdsShared and the generated Java named constants still omit them. The unrestricted string branch remains available.

This needs a Speech-specific correction, not an expansion of unrelated Realtime voice options. No corrected public schema or Java release has been verified, so this report remains open. The raw-string workaround and the updated marin/cedar documentation are also explained on the original Java report.

The correction is now present in the published OpenAPI schema: CreateSpeechRequest.voice adds fable, onyx, and nova through a Speech-specific anyOf branch. VoiceIdsShared remains unchanged so unrelated Realtime surfaces are not widened. Arbitrary strings and custom voice references are preserved.

The corresponding Java constants were regenerated and merged in openai-java#1088, and are visible in the generated source. Closing this specification report as fixed.

The Java package release is tracked by v4.70.0 release PR #1084; package publication has not yet been verified.
