GitMulti discovers Git repositories below a directory and reports on or runs Git operations across them. It is a single, shell-free Go binary built with Cobra.
GitMulti requires Go 1.24 or newer to build or install, and Git on PATH when
a command inspects or operates on repositories.
Install the latest version with Go:
go install github.com/ramonzx6/gitmulti/cmd/gitmulti@latestTo build from a checkout:
git clone https://github.com/ramonzx6/gitmulti.git
cd gitmulti
go build -o gitmulti ./cmd/gitmultiOn Windows, use go build -o gitmulti.exe ./cmd/gitmulti and run
./gitmulti.exe. If gitmulti is not found after go install, add
go env GOBIN (or go env GOPATH/bin when GOBIN is unset) to PATH.
# Discover direct child repositories.
gitmulti list
# Include repositories below the selected directory.
gitmulti list --path ~/src --recursive
# Show branch, dirty state, upstream, and ahead/behind counts.
gitmulti status --path ~/src --recursive
# Run Git with argument boundaries preserved; do not include the word git.
gitmulti exec --path ~/src --recursive -- status --short
# Preview a fetch without changing any repository.
gitmulti sync --path ~/src --recursive --dry-runGitMulti invokes Git directly, without a shell. Read the documentation before running commands that can change repositories or contact remotes.
The GitMulti documentation is the complete command manual:
- Getting started: requirements, installation, and first workflows.
- Repository discovery: scan roots, recursion, filters, symlinks, and repository boundaries.
- Commands and workflows: every command, alias, option, and common usage pattern.
- Output and exit status: text, JSON, NDJSON, diagnostics, and automation contracts.
- Safety and trust boundaries: shell behavior, Git configuration, credentials, synchronization, and snapshot handling.
- Development: Go checks, documentation setup, and contribution guidance.
Run gitmulti --help or gitmulti <command> --help for the options supported
by the installed binary.
